You've got your wires crossed a bit..

As far as you holding a brit passport you can show up here without having bought ANY visa from a thai consulate and get stamped in free for 60 days on the visa exempt entry program

What you're talking about is the TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) program which started on May 1st.

You can file a TDAC online from 3 days before your travel to thailan right on down to when you're standing in the arrival hall (they have kiosks you use)

This is the website for the TDAC;

I mean if you can't time it that way, you can't, and you just move, file the TM30's and get your extension down there, BUT I've found it's way easier to get an extension after you've done a year of 90 day reports at that office rather than just showing up with a month before you need to get a new extension and trying to push it thru 🙂

I would get the next yearly extension at the office you're at (if you can do that before you move)

THEN

I would move, file new TM30's at the Hua Hin office, start doing the 90 day reporting at that office and that will make it a LOT easier to start doing your extensions at that office as you will have built up a 'track record' of using that office for things that people on long term extensions do :)

I am doubtful you're on any visa 😕 and sounds more likely you're on a yearly extension of stay based on retirement from an immigration office <- Look at the current stamp in your passport.

Many people routinely wait until their next 90 day report OR their next extension comes due before they go to the immigration office to get their extension stamps moved from the old to new passport, so you can wait until you go apply for a new yearly extension and do it then.

Make sure you file a new TM30 with the new passport number as well (and don't forget to update your banking info at your banks)

unlikely you'll have an issue comin' in on the 26th from the Nong Khai land border. You said you'll return to Oz when you do, so you'll have proof of onward travel even if they question you.

I'd wager you'll be fine, just have proof that you're going back to Australia within the 60 days you'll get stamped in for when you cross, if they're going to ask for anything it'll be that.

It's not immigrations at passport control that cares if you have onward travel in 90 days when you're stamping in free stamp for 60 days

It's the air carrier that sometimes has the rule that you need onward travel within the days you'll get stamped in for (60) when you come here without a valid visa in your passport (free stamp entry),

Check with your air carrier, if they're okay with your onward travel dated out 90 days you'll be fine once you land here and go to stamp in

Okay, lets sort this out. 😛

There never was a tourist visa you could buy that gave you 90 days when you stamped in 🙁

There is a single entry tourist visa that was VALID for 90 days <meaning you had that long to ENTER thailand and when you did you'd get stamped in for 60 days like everyone on a tourist visa does.

As people pointed out, if you want 90 days in country as a tourist you either come in free stamp for 60 days and take the 30 day extension OR you buy a single entry tourist visa from the consulate online before you come here BUT you'll still only get stamped in for 60 days and if you want 90 days total you'll have to take the 30 day extension.

Any way you slice it, if your father is comin' here as a tourist, those are his options. There's almost no upside at all to buying a tourist visa before he comes here because he gets stamped in the same amount of time as he would showing up without any visa and taking a free stamp entry; 60 days 🙂

1 - You're coming in dec, just come in free entry 60 day and have proof you're leaving in 90 days (the 60 days plus the 30 day extension you can get)

2 - Don't waste the time or money getting a 6 month METV (multi-entry tourist visa)

3 - You come in, bank the money, apply for the Non-O visa for 2000baht, wait the 2 weeks it's under review, then go back to get it inked in.

4 - you keep forgetting that you can get a 30 day extension on that 60 day entry stamp so you won't need to have any onward travel other than your flight back to your country in 90 days

@Ja***
they don't care, because they know you can get a 30 day extension on a 60 day free entry stamp

So what you're wanting to do is fly in on the 14th

BUT

not have them stamp you in on the valid extension/re-entry permit and instead stamp you in on a 60 day free stamp?

As Lloyd said, you can ask. .. ... BUT remember the immigration officer at passport control is under no obligation to do what you want. In theory you are supposed to get stamped in on the ED visa/extension w/re-entry until that extension runs out.

Good news is; it'll only go one of two ways 🙂

The immigration officer WILL let you in free-stamp (visa exempt) for 60 days

OR

You'll get stamped in until Aug 21st and have to either get a new extension with documentation from your school at the immigration office or you'll have to exit/re-enter to get a 60 day free stamp entry
