for my son entered Bangkok in STV visa initially issued by embassy - went immigration said cannot be renewed as no longer avail and was informed to do border crossing to get the 45 days coming back in.
Am I correct in understanding that if we take a flight to eg: Laos stay a day or two and then fly back to Bangkok he just gets a 45 day visa stamped into passport again at customs?.
I am aware of the land borders and agents (read up on it) and just trying to way up best options here. It will be his 1st time doing this.
Also which airportโs in Laos gives the least probs asking for stuff. TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
Cheron Gonzalez is inquiring whether her son can obtain a new 45-day entry stamp by flying to Laos after initially entering Thailand on an STV visa, which cannot be renewed. She is considering the best options for this border run and is particularly interested in which airport in Laos would have the least complications.
I didn't see you had a pending post, and I posted this already

There's no need to fly to Lao or anywhere to get off the 90 day STV entry stamp and get a new 45 day visa exempt entry (it's NOT a visa it's just a free entry stamp), You can do it by land OR air and there's no amount of time you have to be out of the country.
There's no need to fly to Lao (where most people need to BUY a visa to get in when they land) you can fly to Malaysia, Singapore, anywhere you can get in and out of without a visa. Check flights, he could fly out one morning and fly right back in that afternoon.
IF you wanna go to Lao then Vientiane is where you fly in to. They won't have any issue comin' back in as they don't have an extensive stay history (many covid extensions)
