Hi everyone,

I want to share my experience about re-entering Thailand with a DTV visa.

I am Taiwanese and hold a Taiwanese passport. Recently, I’ve seen some posts expressing concerns about re-entering Thailand. I have entered Thailand 4 times with DTV through BKK without any issues.

My DTV route is Soft Power(Muay Thai).

I just want to say that if you applied by yourself or through an agency with correct and truthful information, you should have no problems re-entering Thailand every time.

Why have I re-entered so many times? Because I love traveling. But Thailand is my favorite country.🇹🇭

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Taiwanese expat shares their experience of re-entering Thailand multiple times on a DTV visa for Muay Thai. They discuss concerns within the community about immigration scrutiny and provide reassurance that as long as proper documentation and genuine intentions are maintained, travelers shouldn't face issues upon re-entry. Other users contribute their experiences, noting that those with frequent travels often are not questioned, though there is an ongoing concern about increased scrutiny at immigration.

why the exit stamps ? They have electronic self checkout at BKK passport control, no stamp.

maybe they don’t always work

Because you applied for the DTV in your home country. That's why

Did you attend to Muay Thai? Or just applying Muay Thai for hidden agenda?

They started to question and pull some DTV holders aside first in CNX then in HKT. BKK will be next … It’s just a question of time.

It’s just facts sorry stupid. Sometimes I wonder how you made it to Thailand without being lost halfway 😅. And don’t forget to take your pills 💊. It’s time !! 🤣

I think immigration would question the people staying in Thailand the maximum amount of time the visa allows, rather than people coming and going all the time.
Dave *********
Not arguing, just wondering how extra scrutiny for staying as long as a visa allows makes sense.

I’ll be applying for a visa in the coming months and am wondering if the DTV is worth the hassle.

… were you required to show proof of funds upon re-entry? I have read this can be an issue. 🙏

I dont understand why or how they could even ask you to show 500K after 180 days. As far as I know there is no rule that requires you to keep the 500K locked in your account for 180 days or even longer. If there is, please enlighten me.

@Sung *****
ok thanks.

I have a weak passport so being questioned at immigrations has been a normal thing for me :))).

Only a matter of time before they start treating this the same as the Education Visa. “If you’re studying why are you travelling?”

"nomad" means one that travels.

@Expat *********
It makes no sense... 😂 as this is officially called a digital nomad visa. Would them ask, if you're a digital nomad, why are you traveling? I applied for my DTV with a document issued by my employer in which they assure that -on their side- I'm allowed to work remotely from any country in the world.

And when did you become a tax resident? Or you've never stayed longer than 180 days to qualify as a tax resident?

why is this relevant to the DTV conversation?

I have entered four times so far, without any issues. Last time I arrived from India. While they asked every single male traveler for proof of accommodation and a return ticket (they even asked one for proof of funds), I was through the immigration counter in 1 minute, all the officer said, was Finiddd" :-)

Aha, I see. That's what I thought.

Single male traveler on what visa? That seems to make a difference.

There are no problems for people with genuine intentions. If you're attending your classes, you'll still be able to prove your goodwill if you're checked. The issue is for those who can't pretend to meet these conditions.
David ******
Same... re-entering for the 5th time tomorrow. Travelling all over the place.

It’s sketchy people with suspicious backgrounds or have a history of negative things immigration related. For people who done it properly like you stated, there’s no issue

My history is not clean (long overstay years ago), but I didn't have any issues with the DTV (I had many with tourist visas). I think it mostly depends on the immigration officer (mood)
แดนนี่ ***********
@Robin ********
yeah that can happen too. That doesn’t take away from what I said. The point was it is more likely that you may have issues if you have history or background with something negative it doesn’t mean you hundred percent will have an issue, but immigration would be more likely to check those people more. So I’m sure there’s many people who still get by fine through immigration such as yourself.

@แดนนี่ **********
what type of suspicious backgrounds and negative things are you referring to exactly?
Anonymous ******************
Anonymous participant 685 over stays, abuse of tourist visas, education visa, border bouncing.
Anonymous ******************
Anonymous participant 329 Yeah, that certainly could be an issue and raise a red flag. I have pointed this out in previous comments here, but some people will deny that such past history could casue an issue. However, i disagree with them.

匿名參與者 685 for example, over stay
Paul *******
@Sung *****
Indeed. Or being on a volunteer visa or education visa or having a history of visa exempt stays plus extensions.
Robin *********
@Paul ******
I have all that, yet no issues. As I stated before. I think it depends (yet) on (the mood of) the immigration officer.

Hmm, I think you have been lucky!? How have you been doing Muay Thai classes regularly if you arrived and then departed less than 3 weeks!?

I've entered 5-6 times already, since October (when I got it). The last time was a couple of weeks ago. I've never ever been asked a thing, just greeted and stamped.
