, no, this is the real deal immigration dept that comes there as a service to the foreigners in that area once a month. There is no budget for it so if they're gonna do it they have to charge a service charge.

This is NOT a service that is usually available in Pai and people up there have to go to Chiang Mai or Mae Hong Son to get their extensions.

That is why they have a mobile unit come there and that's price is the service charge in addition to the immigration fees to get them to do it.
