ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS

EVisa online system UP and RUNNING (y)

You can now select, the thai consulates in Singapore, Taipei, Burma, Lao, Philippines along with the rest of the S/E Asian consulates that went online before

Keep in mind there are NO thai consulates in S/E Asia that have walk up, apply in person service any longer

ALL are on the eVisa system for applications

Vientiane, Savannakhet, and Yangon have in person payment systems at this time you cannot pay for the visa thru the online application portal

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai eVisa online system is now operational for various consulates in Southeast Asia, including those located in Singapore, Taipei, Burma, Laos, and the Philippines. It is important to note that all applications must be made online; there are no in-person application services available. However, Vientiane, Savannakhet, and Yangon still require in-person payment after online application. Applicants must be physically present in the country of the consulate from which they apply and must remain there until their eVisa is approved, or risk additional document requests or denial. Additionally, questions have arisen regarding the impact of these changes on 60-day visas on arrival and the availability of one-year Non-O multiple entry visas.

Is it still possible to get a one year non O (Thai spouse) multiple entry visa from any of these consulates?

Nope it is not, there is no thai consulate in the world that will sell year-long, multi-entry Non-O visas anymore.. That choice was eliminated when they all went eVisa

You get a 90 day Non-O and then you get an in country extension at your immigration office by showing the required funds for the required time

How long does it take to get an online tourist visa?

takes as long as it takes. GO to the website of the consulate you're thinking of applying at and read the posted processing time

Will this affect the 60 day visas on arrival at this stage?

@Daryl **********
there is no such thing as a 60 day visa on arrival šŸ™

I believe you're asking about the "free stamp" (visa exempt) entry where you just show up and get stamped in free.

The eVisa online system at all the consulates now is if you want to BUY a visa to thailand and has nothing to do with free stamp entry

Since July 15th these countries get 60 days free stamp when they enter thailand

Be advised IF you select the thai consulates in Yangon Burma, Vientiane or Savannakhet Lao you get a notice that says you cannot pay thru the online portal and must go to the consulate to pay after you have applied for the visa online in the system

Okay now that all the consulates in S/E Asia are on the eVisa online portal for applications I want to go over how the system is designed to work..

You have to physically be IN the country whose thai consulate you're applying for the visa at. You upload proof you're in that country (visa/entry stamp) you use the address where you're staying in that country when you apply

AND

Then here's the important part, you STAY in that country until the eVisa is approved. You don't go there, apply, then come back to thailand free stamp to wait for the application to be approved.

People were doing this and now we are seeing more and more consulates send out a "request for additional documents" 3 to 5 days after you have applied online asking you to upload all your passport pages, blank pages too šŸ˜® <- this is to see if you left the country and went back to thailand or not.

People have been denied for bailing out of the country they applied in and comin' back here before the visa was approved.

Thank you for this tip. Since it can apparently vary widely in how long it takes for a DTV to be granted, how does one plan to be in a country for an indeterminate amount of time while waiting for the DTV to be approved? Or is the time period quite standardized now? Iā€™ve read reports varying from a week to more than a month.

it's totally a crap shoot really, and I'd say you run a higher chance of faster turn around at the consulates that have been ON the eVisa system a while (other than Malaysia because those three [Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Bharu] seem to be dragging their heels)

Vietnam isn't bad IF you get the documents uploaded correctly first time around

They all are BAD if they have to ask you for more documents, šŸ™

Something is not right with the people who are saying it took a month (or they're using one of the consulates in France or Spain that has crazy processing time šŸ™

thanks for the helpful reply, I appreciate it.

It does seem odd that as per the system you canā€™t leave the country you apply for the visa in until itā€™s granted but you donā€™t know how long it will take for it to be granted.

In any case, what would you say is the average number of days it takes when applying online from Vietnam (if they donā€™t have to ask for more documents)?

@Lauren *****
, check their websites. They state processing time clearly.

thanks, I was just more interested in actual reports from those who have done it since Iā€™ve personally heard and read some pretty widely varying accounts. A friend of mineā€™s husband applied from the US for example and 3 weeks on he still didnā€™t have his. Not sure how long it finally took in the end.

does this apply to a new application for DTV visas as wellā€¦if already been living in Thailand for over a year on a different visa? Thanks again Tod! šŸ™
