ATTENTION MEMBERS:

Wednesday the 26th of May is a holiday and all immigration offices are closed country wide.

That means there are FOUR days left to apply for a 60 covid extension (24th, 25th, 27th & 28th).

TLDR : Answer Summary
Attention to all expats in Thailand: Immigration offices will be closed on the holiday, May 26th, leaving only four days (24th, 25th, 27th, and 28th) to apply for a 60-day COVID extension. Questions arise about where to apply, the implications of extending visas that are about to expire, and whether one can apply with an unused tourist visa extension.

Should I go to Muah Thong or Chaengwattana? Last time I applied for the extension in Muah Thong and the office called me to pick the visa in Chaengwattana.

where you go depends on the entry stamp you got when you came in. It seems like you entered on a REAL tourist visa (that you bought from a thai consulate before you came here). The section that does extensions for those (Counter J) moved back to Chaengwattana

If my visa is till the 26th, does that mean I can extend on the 27th? Will I pay a fine for one day?

@Ernestas *********
Why not go before expiration on May 24 or 25? You will not lose any days

@David ****************
That's what I'd usually do, but they always stamp me 60 days from the day of application, since then, always extending on the day of expiration. :(

, then better to go to on 25th. Don't be on overstay if you can.

You can apply for your tourism extension 27th without much problem. Overstay fine will be waived for 1 day because office was closed on the expiration date. You will get an overstay stamp though.

Can you apply for a covid extension with unused 30-days tourist visa extension?

that is up to the immigration office you use, SO go talk to them and see what they say.

Keep in mind that what we were seeing is IF you didn't get your regular 30 day extension and went straight on a 60 day covid extension they were starting it the day you apply (so if you still had days left on your entry stamp you lost them) BUT if you did get the 30 day extension and then went onto a covid extension it was being added to the end of your extension stamp

Can you only apply for this extension if you have 30 days or less left on current stamp?

@Meg ******
that is totally up to you and the immigration office you deal with . Most will let you do another extension when you have 30 days or less but some (Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Buriram, Phuket, etc) will let you do it when you have 45 days or less left on your current one.
