WHO GOES WHERE?
There is some confusion about where people go to get 'regular' 30 day extensions and the emergency unable to travel due to covid-19 extension.
If you bought a tourist visa from a thai consulate before you came here and were stamped in for 60 days, to get your normal 30 day extension AND to get your emergency unable to travel due to covid-19 extension after that you go to Chaengwattana Section J
IF you got a 30 day visa exempt entry (like people do from 51 countries) you go to Muang Thong Thani to get your 'regular' 30 day extension AND if needed you go back there to get your unable to travel due to covid-19 emergency extension too
IF you arrived on a 14 day visa exempt entry (2 countries), a 15 day Visa On Arrival (18 countries), a 30 day visa waiver (6 countries) OR a 90 day visa exempt entry (5 countries) you go to Muang Thong Thani WITH your embassy letter to get your emergency unable to travel due to covid-19 extension.

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post provides clarity on where residents in Bangkok should go for visa extensions. It distinguishes between different types of visa holders: those with a tourist visa must go to Chaengwattana for a regular 30-day extension, while those with a 30-day visa exempt entry should visit Muang Thong Thani for both regular and COVID-19 emergency extensions.
If asking here for a friend (Mexican passport holder with Tourist Visa) about the documents for 1st extension. And according to what you have written here, he should go to Chaengwattana.
IF they BOUGHT a tourist visa from a thai consulate in another country BEFORE coming here and were stamped in for 60 days they go to Chaengwattana (Section J) to apply for their 30 day extension
Thanks Tod, Do you know where exactly in Muang Thong Thani for 1st exetension ( with 30 days of visa exemption) ? (it's a big bulding). And can we also find photo and copies services in Muang Thong Thani ?
