The pound is currently rising against the Thai Baht, leading to discussions among expats about the economic implications. Various comments highlight concerns about the influence of US tariffs on the Thai economy, and the volatility of both currencies. Some expats report taking advantage of the peak exchange rates recently achieved. The conversation reveals a mix of optimism and skepticism regarding the stability of currency values in light of evolving global economic conditions.
you're right. Stay safe in britain. I'm impressed you got out from the EU (I liked that), but don't start to think you're better than everyone else, no matter what.
Thailand had a $45 billion usd trade surplus from the US last year, while the US had a 36 billion trade deficit with Thailand. Thailand is coming to the table now Other countries will line up soon. the short term may get a little more expensive. But Thailand is already talking about investing more money in the USA🇺🇸

On may the first when new visa comes in most won’t bother going anymore 🤡
the "new visa" is no different to the 2019 visa forms you filled in on the plane. Infact it's better because it's digital making it more efficient. And in 2019 they had the highest rate for tourism.
If you think a 5 minute FREE application will stop people visiting then I think that makes you more of a 🤡

Yes i was constantly locking in on wise, then if as it did go higher I'd cancel and lock in at new rate, i got it peaked at 45.22 last night, it's made me a few thousand ££££.
The chaos in Bangkok with damaged buildings under scrutiny and the Trump tariffs have been the driving factors I think

It's my investments that's down because of that thickcnt in the Whitehouse🤬 the whole world knew this prick would take his revenge, EVERYONE🤬 except the thick yank🤡🤡 who voted for it
yeah it's u who is the clown mate, hence 60% of yanks saw the greater good. He's not there to favour expats, he's there to favour those that live in America, this will bring back jobs to the US, its called protecting American people, a bit like Thailand does for its people. I'm all for protectionism, even tho it makes it hard for me as a foreigner in Thailand 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Worry about a few baht ....many pension super funds have just dropped 10s of thousands of dollars !!!
you REALLY don't believe this do you ! 😂 Those of us here in America is paying for the felons revenge tariffs ! Other countries will implement the same Tariffs we are, so in the long run the little guys pay here in America ! 😡
pls do not promote this crap, just parroting WH. Do real research. Look up what the actual tariffs are, including the tariffs that the US was already imposing. And just because there may be a case for limited tariffs in strategic instances that's not what's happening here.
Let me help you a bit more with ur first baby steps. Look up "great depression smoot hawley tariffs"
THEY ARE or THEY'RE not T-H-E-R-E 🤦🤦 just as fknthick this is primary 3 grammar. If you can't master that then economics I would leave if I were you🤣🤣🤣🤡
when ur transferring 1000s of them, its hardly a bag of peanuts you are gaining, ive basically just paid for all my new appliances with the money I've gained
I agree with this, trump has just made everything more expensive for Americans. Economists now expect a recession in the 3rd and/or 4th quarter this year. Had a good day yesterday selling dollars 😊
how dare the Yanks charge reciprocal tariffs. Very unfair for them to charge a country 31 percent with that country is charging them 61. How dare they?
Tariffs should be Equal end of story. But what he is doing is just outrageous. But he is fucking all the people in America and other countries as well ,He is nothing but a Dictator.
another name caller with no facts to bring to the debate. Guess someone like you feels big calling a dully elected President a dictator however you know that's not ture, as Trump was recently elected, you now have zero credibility on anything you post.
OK if its not name calling then I won't fell bad calling you Stupid for saying a dully elected President, under the US Consistution Checks and Balances is dictator. Goodbye I don't waste with stupid people.
It defies explanation. Everywhere there are always a few who latch onto cults, but this is now the majority of Americans who have suspended reality and put their faith in a maniac charlatan blowing our democracy and society to smithereens. We are going to look like a giant Yugoslavia any day now, neighbor shooting at neighbor. 🥺
the EU collected €3bn in tariffs on €347bn of US imports in 2023, under 1%. It's now getting a 20% minimum tariff on everything from the US. The numbers Trump claims as reciprocal tariffs are a complete lie.
just turn off Truth Social and tune into a program with proper economic analysis. The percentages do not reflect the tariffs charged by other countries but a formula that looks like it was developed by a 12 year old. Read up on it.
not sure what you see, but from here Biden never made any moves, he was a puppet . I respect making moves as a leader, whether it’s the right or wrong move time will tell.
trade imbalance 2020 681.7 and 2024 918.4. Joe did his damage by doing nothing and we could keep kicking the can but we all known sooner or later the country will go under. I keep looking for the alternative plan but seems there not one. Sure didn't hear it from Harris.
the tariffs aren’t based on reciprocity but on a formula based on the imbalance of trade between America and other countries. It ignores the service industry where America is dominant and misses the whole point of international trade which is that countries specialize in things they are good at.
if that were then Asia would welcome US Rice. Other countries would welcome US agricultural products but we all know countries protect their workers. Have a nice weekend.
these are fledgling economies not the massive behemoth that is the USA. Picking a fight with countries like Cambodia and Laos isnt a good look. China has just hit America with retaliatory tariffs. It isn’t going too well so far .
love your constant spin. I said Asia om puropse so you skip over places like Japan and Korea to try to make a point. As to your point I note with our trade imbalance and our deficit Old Uncle Sam is no longer wealthy and will no longer take one for the world, at least with Trump as POTUS.
so I made your day? Well you have low expectations pal. I really think you need to get a life . 😜
Trump will get his comeuppance. Either a bullet or just get removed by The Republican Party when they finally realize the senile old man is leading America to ruin.
I know how unfair of President Trump to put his countries needs over yours. Then you find no one cares what you think so you try to feel better by hurling insults like a school boy. You do continue to entertain. Thanks
take it how you want to take it., you deserve it. You are joking if you think we need America. Your country is full of hill billy racists and soon they will be screaming about the high prices they’ll pay for everything. Well they should have thought b4 voting. Trump isn’t an economist and his team are bunch of amateurs. If you think his plan has even the remotest chance of succeeding you are more of a fool than I initially thought. You may not care what others think which marks you and your ilk as selfish ignorant bastards. You enjoy your backward sh*thole of a country. And if you come to the UK I suggest you shut your mouth about being a Trump fan because you’ll probably get a kicking. Just warning you pal.
if you thought there was no chance of this working you would not be so upset. I do suggest you take your Med's, Pal you sounds like your having a breakdown. Kick back and enjoy the ride.
you got it all wrong but false logic is what I’d expect from a sniveling Trump supporter .I’m just trying to educate you hill billy dickheads. Dow just opened and down another 3 percent today. Yes sure it’s working great. Everything he touches he f*cks up. He’s a bloody clown and with respect so are you 😜
Sorry you so worked up and scared of fair trade however that's your problem. Since your so very knowledgeable write your Government Representatives and tell them how they can put the US in their place. FYI: Name calling is for children and adults with serious problems. I will not debate with a child or a adult that acts like a child.
now you’re getting all prudish. Don’t take offence snowflake. You’re all the same getting all offended when people criticize your hero. You say you won’t debate yet you keep replying. Go on snowflake scamper off I’m tired of you.
Trump is a bloody clown surrounded by sycophants who are unfit for purpose. My point is the figures are arbitrary and not based on economic reality. America will feel the pain the most.
Yes. Whatever Biden did, he was never setting up friends of America being against America. The current move is just sad and the American economy isn’t even going to benefit from this (on the contrary!).
The US is rapidly losing trust from its friends and that’s a sad thing. Trump is even mentioning that its NATO partners might use American weapons against America. The thought alone worries me. Which NATO country started wars in the last 50 years? None, except USA!
And now Trump is mentally preparing his country for wars against Canada, Mexico and the EU using the same rhetoric that Putin used before invading Ukraine. That’s a dangerous move.

Pete Paolillo Yes, Donnie.
So let’s cancel our F35 orders for which the promised participating orders never came and which prices became 7 times higher *after* the order. Let’s stop exporting Dutch steel and chip manufacturing machines to USA immediately and apologise for that. You’re right.
I humbly bow my head and apologize.
I’m sorry… for you.
/edit: Oh, dear. Another high educated subject whose language doesn’t rise above ‘boho’ and then quickly blocks. Some people practice a really interesting discussion technique… 🤣
duh but you did quote my name and posted a photo arguing the dollar was going down in value. Thankfully you were absolutely wrong and don’t understand currency. 🤷♂️
yep and it’s expected to keep fluctuating and going down compared to the dollar. It was suggested that the dollar is being devalued but even the BRICS countries other than Iran and Russia won’t stop using it despite the pleas. It’s just factually not what’s happening.🤷♂️👍
I’m not sure you understand that it moves in waves, up and down. Fluctuation. Read the expected forecasts for the currency, it’s possible for a period that 35.5 baht to 1 dollar could be the norm. You understand?
Do you get it now? The baht is expected to get weaker through summer in Thailand. Then rebound possibly at the end of the year or early next year but no one knows. Right now it expected to eventually give more baht to the dollar as its value drops. Google this and read about it, it’s really easy. 🥹
Very briefly yesterday . Already dropped back . Bad economy earthquake so many problems but nothing can ever hurt the Thai Baht … why they call it Teflon Thailand
During the "Tom Yum Goong" (or Tom Yum Kung) financial crisis in 1997-1998, the Thai baht plummeted, reaching an all-time low of around 56.67 baht per US dollar by January 12, 1998, compared to a rate of about 25 baht per dollar in January 1997.
if you look at a graph of the last 25 years you will see that mostly the rate for the £ now at 44.5 is less than at all times 2000-2016 then the Brexit disaster crashed the pound to around the levels it is now , briefly for a couple of years the rate was lower 2019-2020 then up and down around the 41-46 level since .
In conclusion since 2000 the £ rate is lower now than at most years , the baht is rarely weak and only briefly even then
