Estonian currently in Chiang mai and my flight home got cancelled.

Thus I plan to stay in Thailand (or asia in general) for 2-3 more months.

I am trying to get another thai visa for as cheap as possible asap as my 30-day visa ends on 26.03 and I do not want to pay any fines.

How would a Thailand specialist approach this?

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Estonian expat in Chiang Mai is seeking advice on extending their Thai visa, which is set to expire soon, without incurring fines. Respondents suggest exploring options for a short stay visa, mentioning the difficulties due to increasing restrictions. Some advice includes considering a border run while it's still feasible, and being cautious of rapidly changing immigration rules. Another suggestion is to think about returning to their home country before reassessing their travel plans.

You say you want to stay in Asia for 2-3 months? Be aware borders are closing on a daily basis and the ability to cross borders at your leisure will diminish rapidly. It may be best to consider returning to your home country for those 2-3 months and then re-appraising the situation. Just a suggestion

I feel you man I have exactly the same situation. Even worse I got already one Extension and came too late for a border bounce 🤦‍♂️

what do you mean too late? It's more and more difficult but might still be possible. Let's see what the people say who are trying/have tried today.

what people are telling you IS

you came in on a 30 day visa exempt entry, and if you didn't get a 30 day extension at the immigration office already for 1900baht you CAN do that ONCE.

I got that. I'm just going to try to make a border run first while it's still an option and THEN get the 30day extension. But lets see, as I've read here, the rules for making a quick border run are changing hourly!

Thank you for the info David Broadfoot

I am already talking to people in the consulates about visa-possibilities and pretty much doing everything I can.

I am going to keep an eye on this page about possible border-run opportunities even though it seems those are also dwindling down by the hour.

You're picking the WRONG time to wanna stay in Asia my friend.

@Tod ********
yep! that is the popular opinion but there is absolutely no life going on at my home country right now. That is why I am trying my best to spend at least two months here.

If I dont manage to do a border run in time, then is there a place in Chiang Mai where I can do the one-time 1900THB extension?

If your home country is in lockdown why wouldn't you want to stay here ?

book a new flight and do not plan to stay around. Getting tourist visa for short stay will get more and more difficult as more precautions are going to in place.
