What is the procedure for extending a 30-day visa exempt entry or a 60-day tourist visa in Thailand during COVID-19?

ATTENTION Members;

People are getting confused about this "unable to travel due to covid-19" 30 day extension.

It has NOTHING to do with any REGULAR 30 day extension,

IF you showed up here on a 30 day visa exempt entry or a 60 day tourist visa entry you can go to the immigration office like normal and get a 30 day extension for 1900baht.

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post clarifies the confusion surrounding the COVID-19 30-day visa extension. It explains that the regular process for extending a 30-day visa exempt entry or a 60-day tourist visa remains unchanged; one can get a 30-day extension at immigration for 1900 baht. The COVID-19 extension is a separate process and requires a letter from the consulate, which is not applicable if already granted a regular extension.

Did you have a flight that got cancelled and rebooked? If yes, then ask your embassy for a letter. If not, then no, you have to fly home.

I have a question regarding the visa exemption. I arrived to Bangkok at the end of January on visa exempt, I had it extended in February in the immigration office. In March I did a succesful visa run and got another stamp until April. Can I extend this one in the immigration office?

Listen up people, this is not a "I already got my regular 30 day extension and my consulate will not issue the letter what do I do" post.

IF you already got your 30 day extension on a 30 day visa exempt entry or a 60 day tourist visa entry AND your consulate won't issue the letter for the unable to travel due to covid-19 letter, there is NOTHING you can do other than to go to your immigration office and see what they say..

This post was made SO that people who haven't yet gotten their first 30 day extension on their 30 day visa exempt or 60 day tourist visa entry know that it works like it's always worked and you just go get the extension for 1900baht.

ONE MORE TIME (using as small of words as I can)

If you are here on a 30 day visa exempt entry, OR a 60 day tourist visa entry you apply for the NORMAL 30 day extension (that you have always been able to get FIRST).

This topic has abso-tively, posi-lutely NOTHING to do with the "unable to travel due to covid-19" 30 day extension that you can get with the letter from your consulate.

Heya Tod- how about if you're here on an existing extension? I flew in around January & extended once. My extension expires next week. Not sure how many times you can just show up get the extension....
