TLDR : Answer Summary
Cary Walker plans to travel to Australia on June 8 and return to Thailand on July 12, inquiring if he will receive a stamp for another 12-month stay. Comments indicate that returning before July 25, 2019, should secure a new stamp for a full year, and mention the need to fill out a TM.6 form upon arrival. There are discussions about the METV visa type and the practice of renewing visas regularly.

@Ho***
using colloquial terminology it might be called that BUT it's really it's an O-A (Long Stay) visa that you get from the thai consulate in your country BEFORE you wing your way here ;)

Thanks, is this also known as a retirement Visa?

As you can see on the picture: Type of Visa Non-IMMigrant and Category O-A.

And then go back every two years and obtain a new visa, keep your bulk money in an australian bank. Dont worry about the extension rules.

as long as you enter the country on or before the 25th Jul 2019 you'll get stamped in for another whole year..
