One more time people DO NOT hi-jack threads

Teri Cam your comment had NOTHING to do with the thread you put it in. Make your own post.

Hi Tod and Everyone, in my case due to the delay in opening the bank and wiring money, I will have only roughly 9 months history of 800K in the bank. Is it enough to to have an extension?

Bobby Howard

Teri Cam. Is this your first extension coming off a visa? Or have you had an extension which required bank funds prior to this one?

Teri Cam

Bobby Howard, I have Visa OA, and have been here for 1 month. So, this is going to be the first extension.

Requirement of funds for extension based on being over 50 requires is you have funds for two months earlier when you apply for an extension. That one-year bank account history is for the second application of extension or later. It is for IO to check you haven't missed the requirement to keep your extension for the previous year..

Teri Cam

Ellie Takei Thank you sooooo...very much to clarify this. I am not going to rush depositing money then. Thanks again Ellie.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about having only 9 months of bank history with 800K THB in their account to qualify for a visa extension. In the discussion, it was clarified that for the first extension on a Visa OA, the requirement is to show funds for the two months prior to applying, rather than needing a full one-year bank account history, which is only necessary for subsequent extensions. Users also mentioned the importance of maintaining a minimum balance once on an extension.

Keep in mind the balance can never go below 400k once you are on an extension, taking into account seasoning requirements.

@Wann****
that would be incorrect and
@El***
makes an excellent point, this is the very FIRST yearly extension that the O/P would be applying for so the "balance can't go below 400K baht would not apply because they don't HAVE an extension now, but are here on an entry stamp. The seasoning requirements of the 800K baht in the bank 2 months before the extension is applied for, keeping it in the bank for 3 months after the extension is issued AND then not letting the balance go below 400K baht the rest of the year would only come into effect AFTER they get this first extension.

To apply for that using banked money they just show the money in the account for 2 months before they apply for the extension.

I must have missed that teeny detail. Thx guys, you both are eagle-eyed. Post corrected, I hope.

why “now”? OP is still too early to apply his first extension. And ‘amount not being below 400k during the year’ is the checked item for second extension and later. If I understand right.

So sorry. I didn't know what I was doing is bad. So sorry.

just a thought, perhaps 'No Hijacking Threads' and what is meant by that should be added to the group rules, together with a 3rd question, asking if people understand. Otherwise infrequent users may be unaware. Apologies if i've just hijacked a thread...
