unfortunately coming in similar situation and like to ask for your advise, situation as follows:

👉currently on non b visa till June 2021

👉work-permit valid till 21 March 2021

However per 31/12/20 no longer employed and employer plan to cancel my work-permit by 14 January this month.

What steps I have to take to stay in the kingdom after 14th of January?

Appreciate your time and advise on this!

TLDR : Answer Summary
Christian Vera is facing a situation where his Non-B visa is valid until June 2021, but his work permit will be canceled on January 14, 2021, following his termination on December 31, 2020. He seeks advice on how to stay in Thailand after the cancellation. Community members clarify the distinction between work permits and visas, advise him on steps to cancel his work permit and extension, and suggest applying for a 60-day COVID extension for staying in Thailand. They also mention that the process is affected by the fact that Vera has relied heavily on his employer for visa matters, complicating his understanding of necessary procedures.

unfortunately (for you)
@Chri*****
the fact that your employer handled all your visa/extension work permit stuff hurt you more than helped you. :/ Because you don't have the slightest idea of how things work or are processed.

Be that as it may.

AND now that you mentioned you're a person who uses Cham Churi Square's One Stop Service Center, you take your work permit and your passport and your termination paperwork there, cancel the work permit, then cancel the extension. Depending on the immigration officer once you cancel your extension they can stamp you for 7 to 21 additional days, BUT once you cancel the extension, and get the other stamp GO to Chaengwattana and apply for the 60 day covid extension BEFORE the 29 of Jan (the day that order allowing them runs out)

Ok, thanks all..

Dear
@T**
here since 6 years allready, but employer always dealt with the paperwork, now wjth Covid 19 situation all changed unfortunately..

Ok so will go cancel my workpermit (chamchuri square i assume?) and than head off to Chang whattana for 60 days extension visa.

However this will give me some time for find new career path.

However will need to start the process for non B again later than as new employer can be found.

Will volunteer work be allowed under covid extension visa you believe?

okay first off you need to understand the work permit doesn't let you stay here, it lets you WORK here

Also I doubt you're on a Non-B VISA and I think instead you're on an "extension of stay" <- look at the stamp in your passport to see what it says,

Go cancel your work permit, then take that receipt and the documentation from your employer and go cancel your extension of stay, and then immediately apply for a 60 day covid extension

When are 60 day covid extensions going to end? (when is the last day immigration will stop issuing covid extensions?)
