TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion clarifies the requirements for obtaining a Non-O visa based on marriage. It suggests that if the marriage is registered outside Thailand, there may be no need to show proof of funds in a Thai bank, whereas this might be required if the marriage occurs within the country. However, the necessity can vary depending on the country from which the Non-O visa is issued.

You are correct but, the non o you get it good 4 3mos. Then you must get extention or leave and come back. With bidars not open it difficult to do. I had both so far. I renewing my passport to get another fresh visa!

That is not necessarily correct. It totally depends on what country you get your Non-O visa from as far as whether you show proof of funds or not.

Sounds like you got a multiple entry visa in Vietnam. Have to leave every 3 months. Inside of Thailand you just get an extension on that visa you got outside of Thailand to stay longer in Thailand. It is this extension you need to show the cash for and you don't have to leave the country every 90 days.

Ok, well thats what I have been doing for the past 5 years, going to Ho Chi Minh city and getting Non o based on marriage, no bank statements needed.

Now Im on these 60 day covid extensions (pardon me if thats not the correct term). Would be great to be able to get the same visa I get in HCMC here in country with the same requirements. Thank you for your time and help Tod, appreciate it.

not possible to get that Non O as COVID has closed borders and travel to Vietnam for that visa not possible. To stay in Thailand you will need to meet the financial requirements for the visa... 400,000 deposited into your Thai bank account in your name only to get the one year extension of stay based on Marriage to Thai.

it depends on a few things, I guess... Sometimes some people can use the "affidavit of income" from their Embassy (at least it was possible last August). And I am not sure about monthly money transfers from abroad... Just to point out different possible options, nothing else =)

I doubt you can get same visa you get n HCMC in Thailand. Type and requirement of visa you can get in-country are different from outside Thailand.
