Just a heads up, if you enter the country and get stamped in wrong, but don't notice it while you're at passport control. You can go to the immigration office out at Chaengwattana in Section K and get your stamp corrected for free.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you receive an incorrect stamp when entering Thailand, you can correct it for free at the immigration office in Chaengwattana, Section K. It's important to check your stamp immediately upon entry to avoid complications, as failing to get stamped can require returning to the border for an entry stamp.
Just a heads up, if for some reason you enter the country and don't get stamped in at all, you have to go back to the border you entered the country at to get the entry stamp.
Just had someone who got a visa from the thai consulate in Vientiane, then crossed into thailand at Nong Khai without ever stamping into thailand. He noticed it about a week later and had to go all the way back to Nong Khai to get stamped. The local immigration office will NOT do anything.
Moral of BOTH the O/P's and my story CHECK your entry stamp when you get stamped into the country.
