Hello all, I'm heading back to Thailand in September, I've been in America for over a year. I had the retirement extension for several years, but I've forgotten the step by step on how to apply.

Thank you in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Michael Lomeli is looking for guidance on the step-by-step process to apply for a retirement extension in Thailand, having previously held a retirement visa but forgotten the details after time spent in America. Comments provide detailed instructions including entering Thailand on a tourist visa, transferring funds to a Thai bank account, applying for a 90-day Non-O visa, and subsequently applying for a one-year extension.

Get the Non Immigrant O visa before you travel, get stamped in for 90 days and after 45 days visit Immigration to apply for the 1 year Extension of Stay. Less visits to Immigration and less hassle.

I have no idea where in Thailand the OP is going to live, but I know for sure that he can go after 45 days, they will inform him to make all needed copies and let him apply or inform him he has to wait a few more days and make an appointment to get thins done on the easy way.

You come in to the country on either a 30 day visa exempt or 60 day tourist visa entry,

You get the 800K baht transferred into a thai bank account in your name only,

You go to the immigration office (when you have 15 days or MORE left on your current entry stamp) and apply first for the 90 day Non-O visa for 2000baht.

That will go under review for 2 weeks and then you go back to get the Non-O visa and a new 90 day stamp inked into your passport.

THEN you wait until your 800K baht has been in your account for 2 months and go back to apply for the year extension for 1900baht.

Once you're here GO to your immigration office to get the hand out listing the requirements to apply for the initial 90 day Non-O visa AND the requirements to apply for the year extension after that.

Thank you, Todd, I've still got the same bank account with the money, does that make a difference?

@Michael *******
should work, they'll see you had previous year extensions and I think there won't be any issues with the funds at all
