Re; "Under consideration stamps"**

We are advising people who already have the "under consideration stamps" whose stamps expire before the 30th to GO back and check with the immigration office on the expiration date to make SURE you're covered under this "blanket amnesty" until the 30th.

It seems that the way some offices are interpreting it is that once you went the embassy letter, unable to travel due to covid-19 extension route you are not covered under the "free extension until the 30th of April".

CHECK WITH YOUR IMMIGRATION OFFICE to see how they handle it DO NOT just think you're covered until you find out.

This is ONLY for people who have gotten the "unable to travel due to covid-19" extension

TLDR : Answer Summary
Members with 'under consideration stamps' are advised to verify their expiration dates with their immigration office to ensure coverage under the April 30th blanket amnesty for COVID-19 extensions. There may be varying interpretations by immigration offices regarding eligibility, especially for those who received extensions due to unable to travel circumstances. It's recommended to address regular visa extensions without relying solely on the amnesty to avoid overstaying.

Right, and you are NOT the demographic of people I am suggesting talk to their immigration office,

You were NOT on an under consideration stamp you were on a 60 day stamp from a tourist visa, you would totally be covered.

My under consideration stamps says to go back on 17th April. But Phuket is going to be on total lockdown from 13th -26th April. Nobody is allowed to leave their house at all. I am in Chalong, which is currently on district lockdown also. So how can I go to immigration?

@Cammy ****
, try to call and ask them directly...

CHECK YOUR LOCAL lock down REQUIREMENTS.

There may be allowed movement / entry for essential food, visit for medical care and Thai immigration.

Well done on the update

I have done one NORMAL(non-covid) extension that expires on 21-April, then no need to go to Chaeng Wattana (Div 1) ?

Thanks for the recommendations! So if I have done one NORMAL(non-covid) extension that expires on 23-April, then no need to go to Chaeng Wattana (Div 1) ?

Can you still go to the Immigration office in Pattaya even on lockout?

Coming from Bang Saray
James ********
@Claus ******
Yes....

The checkpoints will be in place again shortly per reports.

...Tell Officer you are going to Thai Immigration Office. Have your passport and proof of residence showing your home address (example: Copy of electric bill, water bill, or phone bill).

...Anyone with you in car have Thai ID or passport.

...Wear mask and have a container of hand cleaning gel or liquid in vehicle.

I had 15 days "under consideration" from March 23 till April 7th. Then I came to get another 15 days. They tald me that my application is not ready yet and put another stamp "under consideration" for 13 more days till 20th of April. It was in Phangan , when they came for 2 days. And after they announced amnesty I came again on 9th, they tald me that my "under consideration" stamps are ok and I can stay untill April 30. And I couldn't extend my last stamp as my application wasn't still ready (" under consideration") as they said.

So anyway I cannot go to immigration any more as Samui is almost closed.

And just for your information, after "under consideration stamp" people get the normal one, if application was approved. After that normal one you can apply again with embassy letter and money.

And it would be really no logic if they won't give amnesty to people, who have "under consideration" stamp as even those who had overstay before March 26 can get amnesty after paying overstay.

Maria, the energency immigration tald me that I am ok. I can stay till 30th. And Surat thani is the main office here.

@Ksenia *********
the emergency immigration on Phanang was Surat Thani immigration that came to help ppl there and Koh Tao.

As you know we normally have Samui immigration, so call them a few days before 20.

Samui isnt closed for ppl needing to visit immigration there but you have quarantine 14 days when you back on Phanang

is anything logical right now? nope. things are changing by the day around the world. deal with it.

Chiang Mai’s stance is those guys are covered. They turned people away at the entrance that were coming to get their stamps, which, in most cases, would get them a stamped date BEFORE the 30th.

Again, ONLY in Chiang Mai.

is immigration in chiang mai open today?

Another reason to go to the immigration office before the 30th, even if you may be covered by the amnesty, is that there are no queues there now and you will avoid the hassle of having to go later when everyone has to go at the same time.
Espen ************
Since you tagged me, I would say just wait and see what happens after April.

My guess is that you will know a lot more before the 30th.

you aren't gonna get a stamp if you show up at immigration and you're covered by the amnesty, they're just going to send you away, BUT if you're not covered you can apply for your extension like normal.

Thanks

Listen up, I am not gonna defend my advising people on under consideration stamps that expire before the 30 to go back and check.

I offered it out as a suggestion, you all managed to get half way around the world on your own, you didn't listen to your government AND the thai authorities telling you to leave when you could, so you're here.

YOU decide what to do.

I am saying at this time, there are a few reports that people who showed up because their under consideration stamps were expiring are being told good thing they showed up because they were NOT on the blanket amnesty plan.

Your mileage may vary, CHECK WITH YOUR IMMIGRATION OFFICE..

People are simply out of their minds. I argued with a lady in another group today who insisted that when the automatic extension/amnesty ends on April 30, it means that she can stay indefinitely and doesn't need a visa anymore because her country of residence is closed and she doesn't want to go back to her country of nationality. Good luck with that!

We are also advising people who are on long term extensions (marriage, retirement, employment, education, raising children, etc) to GO get your extension like you normally would. DO NOT count on this "amnesty" to buy you time because you might (again depending on the immigration office) find yourself on overstay.
Kat *****
@Tod ********
yes that what I got from immigration too ...I asked them for non-o base on marriage they said recommend to come to do extensions for 60 days.

good advise

As some people misinterpreted the govt rule till the 30th April
Matt *******
@Tod ********
this is definitely in the same protocol without amnesty. Just completed on 8th April with Chiang Mai immigration on Ed visa and the usual 500baht a day over stay composition applies.
