ATTENTION MEMBERS:
Concerning the "under consideration" stamps gotten by using the embassy letter at the immigration office
There is some confusion about what people do who have an under consideration stamp in their passport from the immigration office.
That's the stamp you got when you used an "unable to travel due to covid-19" letter from your embassy asking for an emergency extension.
SOME offices are saying you are covered under the blanket amnesty and do NOT need to go back to the immigration office and get the rest of the extension
BUT keep in mind
SOME offices are saying you are NOT covered on the blanket amnesty until you go back on the date your under consideration stamp expires and get the rest of the extension (which will be an 'extension of stay' stamp).
This is an image of the two stamps you get when using the embassy letter. You can see the top stamp clearly says "application for extension of stay under consideration" <- that means the extension is in the process of being approved and the person was to report back on the 17th of April.
The bottom stamp is what you get when you go back on the date the earlier stamp expires and as you can see it says "extension of stay permitted until" and you can see when this person showed up on the 17th they were given the rest of the 30 day extension based on embassy request.
NOW that their extension process is complete they qualify for the blanket amnesty
We are recommending ANYONE with an under consideration stamp who can easily go to the immigration office to do so, OR at the worst to contact their immigration office and ask what to do
DO NOT think you're automatically covered by this blanket amnesty until you hear from your immigration office.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The 'under consideration' stamp you receive from the immigration office indicates your application for an extension of stay is in process. There are differing opinions among immigration offices on whether this stamp automatically covers you under the blanket amnesty. It is advised to verify with your immigration office whether you are required to return for further stamping or are already covered until the new amnesty date.
