60 Day Covid Extensions

Be advised that the ability to apply for 60 day covid extensions (the police order allowing them) runs out on Jan 29th.

AT THIS TIME <- meaning as of today, there has been no announcement as far as whether that order will be extended

AND

no matter what you were told by an immigration officer, until a new order comes out, the current one along with the ability to get 60 day extensions because of this covid shit show runs out when the immigration offices close on Friday.

If you have a stamp expiring and want to apply for a covid extension GO to your immigration office before close of business on Friday to apply.

Please understand, I'm not scare mongering. All I'm doing is telling you people how the rule that's in effect right now works.

Good Luck to everyone, Go earlier rather than later. If they don't announce an extension to this rule I bet Friday will be a total clusterf*ck at all immigration offices.

If my visa currently expires 26 February, do you know if they (Chaeng Wattana) would grant me the emergency extension if I applied on Friday? I was told you could only apply 1 week before expiration

@Philip ********
I think you're getting your wires crossed somewhere. In Bangkok, you can apply for a new extension when you have 45 days or less left on your current stamp. SO if you have a stamp that runs out Feb 26 you can go apply now for a new 60 day covid extension.

Hello
@Tod ********
, thank you for this update. I arrived to Bangkok with a visa exemption (visa on arrival) and I want to extend it since my parents have a work permit here and I want to stay with them. Should I apply for the short term visa or the tourist visa? My visa on arrival expires on 20th February. Thank you!

I went to phuket immigration today to pickup my passport and was only given under consideration stamp until 29th... In 2 days... I thought it was 14 days... Very annoying to go 4 days in 1 week. Day1 get queue #, day 2 process application, day 3 pick up passport, go back on friday again?

SAMUI was doing smooth and quick business for all kinds of passport holders this morning, extensions, 90 day reports etc.

They made the first check and que for your number downstairs, regulating max 30 people indoors upstairs and everyone in & out within an hour!

Chapeau to Samui Immigration :-)

hi, Tod, thanks a lot for the team’s constant assistance, can’t say enough “Thank You”s for your hard work. You mentioned the Immigration office will close on Fri (
*****
?). So i went to get a further 60 day COVID extension and was asked to go back to close the loop on
*****
, if the (CW) office will be closed, does it mean I should go tomorrow already or on Monday? Thanks a lot

Sorry
@Viv***
I didn't mean they are closed :O :/

I meant you have until they close at 16:30PM on Friday the 29th to apply for the covid extension :(

@Tod ********
oh, I see, that’s great then. Thanks a lot 🤩

I went to muang thong thani on 19th after hearing about this covid extension... I asked the immigration officer if it was possible to get a 60 day extension for my TR visa based on covid... She told me the immigration didnt know and to wait for announcements from the government!?!?
Jake *********
Ok so i have done that 30 day extension.. Which gives me until 5th March. So you think if i go tommorow to Muang thong thani, they should give me a 60 day based on covid 19 situation? Do you know what i need to do differently to when i went for my 30 day extension? Assuming that i bring all the same paperwork?
Jake *********
Do you know if it says that on uk london embassy website as i cant seem to see it... Sorry about the questions i just dont want to go all the way to muang thong thani to be turned back as its a while away from me and im desperate for the extension too.... Saying that 5th of march is more than 30 days left x
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
Jake Baldwin you have an extension until March, SIT back and wait. I say that because, even if you did slog out the MTT and they allowed you to apply for the 60 day covid extension it would start the day you applied <- meaning you would lose all the days you have left on your current stamp.

Just wait it out and see what they announce.
Jake *********
Tod Daniels thanks Tod :)

If my extension runs out on the 20th Feb, can I go this week and get that extended from 20th Feb?

Samui and suratthani pretty straight forward, copies of bio page and of all the stamps since your entry into the country. They have ready made documents that are handed out and gone through then you get your number. 60days all in one day. 1900 baht. That's also for the people who had stamps until end of feb
Yoni *********
Thank you 🙏🏼

so if I had till end of February, and I will go in Friday, you think that I will get till end of March?
Mia ***************
Milda ***************
So chiang Mai is giving everyone 14 day under consideration stamps already (went today, my visa expires 29th, and got a stamp with 11th feb) so if you have a visa which runs out end of feb - no point going now to chiang Mai immigration just to try to “hack” the system there... you will just add to already existing crowd. (It was busy and slower than usual today).

On the other note, they already gave me papers which I will need after I get full extension (approval of extension on 11feb) and they are all dated 24APRIL. Which is weird cuz I am applying only for 60day (standard). So I go with the flow but these bunch of papers are kinda ringing a bell about existing plans on prolonging extension periods or so.
Astrid **********
@Milda **************
it is an under consideration.

1. Might be we go back on amnesty

2. They want you to stay in the same district and not elope within 14 days since CM is orange zone

3. When you return Feb 11 they give you the resuming

Please stay positive, no deportation or such .. most of the country gets normally stanped, same orabge and red zone differ atm. All be good dear 💙
Milda ***************
@Astrid *********
well i brought deportation as to see how unlikely it looks... thats just not convenient for anyone..at all,even for the most farang hating nationalist :D

regarding your points i do not mind no 1 at all.

no 2 makes sense. and no 3 thats what gonna happen.

my point of the first comment is that after 29 there will be some sort of rules how to get visas, until borders open it just illogical that it wont be any. And all wanted to do is simply to warn people who have their visas valid for more than a month from now and going to immigration (specifically chiang mai) with hope for 60 day extra visa and not getting it! it was crowded..

p.s. last time CM recorded a covid case was 12 days ago.. so if we dont fuck up next 2 days we will leave the orange zone ;)

it will all be fine
Astrid **********
@Milda **************
all be good.

Today Tuesday we get government announcements .. lets see

💜
Astrid **********
@Milda **************
no more covid extension given after Jan 29 .. so one needs to go this week to add 60 days on expiry date even when its under consideration!!
Milda ***************
@Astrid *********
ok, then my question is why are they instructing everyone on coming back on 11 feb (in cm), if they are not gonna give that extension...- then what? 11 feb i go to the immigration and i get deported?

its not that they made lots of sense before, but this also... just dont connect.
Milda ***************
@Benjamin *****
thanks for your input. That totally makes sense..

To be honest I am not too worried.. with history of their constantly changing conditions for visas during covid, inconsistencies and taking in consideration current situation it seems unlikely for “things” to go wrong.. for now 🤣
Carlos *******************
The immigration officer were telling to everyone to return before 29th Jan if they want the 60 days extension, even people with visa that runs out end of February. the suggestion you're giving to people to not go there to "hack" the system is based on what?
Milda ***************
on my experience today in chiang Mai immigration office. I literally explained what they are doing in that immigration office. I did not tell them not to go to other offices or anything else. Simply spent there all morning, and everyone who was getting extensions today on covid/tourist visa thing got the same.
Jamie *********
Applied at Samut Prakan last week, my "under consideration" return date is the 29th... Planning to show up before 8.30 but can I go on another day?
Jamie *********
Thanks
@Benjamin *****
, I will. Hopefully I'll be early enough to beat the "clusterf#¢k".

ATTENTION BANGKOKIANZ:

If you are going to the Muang Thong Thani Immigration office to get a 60 day covid extension at Counter K (meaning you originally arrived here with a visa exempt entry) you NEED to make an booking with the online system here;

I booked an appointment but wont need it anymore since I'm here on a TR visa and cant get a covid extension anyways. So I want to go later in February. Anyone knows how to cancel a booked appointment. There is no cancellation button on the website and when I call the number no one picks up for now.

Ideas? Or just dont show up?
Tod *********

@Leonie *****
you go in an try to make another appointment and it asks if you want to cancel the one you made..

Did it today in Samui, but could get only the 30 day for my TR60 visa. They said I can get the 60 days later. Someone know if I can apply the 60 days befor 29 january and add the 60 days to my 30 days extention which will expire 4th march? thx
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Stephan *****
You cannot. :( AND because you are a recent arrival on a tourist visa 60 day entry stamp you HAD to get the 30 day extension before you could appy for a covid extension.

Even if you could apply for the covid extension BEFORE the 29th when this current order expires. you would lose all the time you have now because that 60 days would start the day you apply and not be added to the stamp you have now.
Falco *************
@Tod ********
thanks a lot

Can the order in Thai or a link can be added here please? Thank you Tod!

Keep in mind people that most offices will let you apply for a new extension when you have 30 days or less, and some (Bangkok, Buriram, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and a few others) will allow you to apply when you have 45 days or less SO depending on your office and when your current stamp expires you might be able to get in before friday and get another 60 day extension.
Tod *********

OK, understood,
Helen ********
@Tod ********
when they have announced these in the past was it for a 30 day extension period?
Paul ********
@Tod ********
Sorry Todd, what Helen meant was when they last extended the Covid-19 extension plan, how long did they extend it for? I'm guessing 90 days as I think the last deadline was in October?

You’re doing great work
