ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS:

We say over and over to check your stamp when you get stamped in. but still every week people make posts about how they were stamped in wrong and didn't notice it.

One more time, we urge everyone to;

CHECK YOUR STAMPS BEFORE YOU WALK AWAY FROM PASSPORT CONTROL

If you get bad stamped it is YOUR responsibility to get it corrected.

NOTE:

If you get a bad stamp at a land crossing no immigration office will correct it except that entry point. <- meaning if you don't catch it there you slog on back to get it fixed..

If you get a bad stamp by passport control at an airport, it's often faster to go back to that airport to correct the stamp rather than going to the immigration office and waiting in the queue to get it done.

This is an example of a visa exempt entry (ผ.30) but they got stamped in for 90 days. The officer picked up the MAY stamp rather than the MAR stamp 😮 This does not mean the person gets to stay until May, their actual date is Mar 23 like a visa exempt entry would give

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community post emphasizes the crucial importance of checking visa stamps upon entry into Thailand to avoid issues with overstays and incorrect entry durations. It stresses that it is the traveler’s responsibility to identify and rectify any errors immediately at the point of entry, especially in land crossings where corrections cannot be made at other immigration offices. Comments reflect shared experiences and reinforce the necessity of diligence when receiving passport stamps.

Of course it is obvious to anyone with half a brain what happened here. Now, the question is what would the IO do if this person does nothing and then shows up to either extend the visa or they leave the country before the stamp is to expire?

I was previously stamped in for 1 year and 60 days instead of 60 days. only noticed when applying for an extension, went to local immigration to have it corrected, but the correction was still wrong, had to be crossed out again and done 3rd time

My SETV got stamped in for 90 days rather than 60 days recently. I was tempted to try and 'get away with it' but then I remembered seeing a similar post like this before. I went back to the immigration officer and pointed out his mistake. He was unbelievably grateful and apologetic for his mistake.. thanked me for coming back. He then voided the stamp and re-did it.

Thanks for the reminder.

I now have been checking the stamp in the little hallway after I step away from the kiosk. No issues so far with four trips through the airport…..

Isn’t it computerized these days and this is just an unofficial reminder?

the stamp in your passport IS your ability to stay IN the country and it IS your responsibility to make sure you're stamped in for the amount of time you're supposed to get

Facts! I had this and floss on to CM. Then had to go back to bkk

So time travel is real 🤭

Happened to me once, I had it begrudgingly changed in Chonburi with a warning, next time I'd have to go back to the airport. Lesson learned 😛

usually if it's an airport stamp you can get it changed at any immigration office where you're staying.

It's the bad stamps from land entry that mess people up 😮 making them slog on back to where ever they entered the country to correct the stamp 😛

It was quite a few years ago, and that was what the IO told me.

🤣Last time I checked you people are all grown ups, you managed to wing your way across the world and wash up here on your own without your mom holding your hand🤣

i'd love to see the net go down for a month, how would these so called DN MADS get on in life.

I got a 12 month extension on 30th May and when I landed back in June she was about to stamp me in for 2023, until I told her (very politely!) she was looking at the wrong page. Had a chuckle. Imagine being on overstay the minute you enter the country 😂

I got stamped in once for 30 days instead of 12 months, thankfully I remembered your previous posts and checked. It caused a bit of commotion but thankfully they managed to correct it there and then.

If the IO had his/her stamp set wrong for "today's date" chances are there's more than one person walking around with a -1 day period of stay

I agree. Unfortunately some people need their hands held. 5555

This is about checking a date in a passport. It's not about designing a new jet engine

I’d like to see the look on the immigration officers face when they apply for a 30 day extension on July 25th😂😂😂😂 500 baht per day understay credit...
