What happens when your "unable to travel due to covid-19" extension runs out.
People are asking over and over what happens when your emergency unable to travel extension runs out.
IF you already got the extension you can see from the stamp in your passport that it is actually an "application for extension of stay under consideration until xxx". Different offices give that first stamp for different amounts of time BUT every stamp I've see issued because of the embassy letter has been an "under consideration" stamp, NOT a regular extension one.
That means ON that date you go back and depending on the situation the immigration office can give you more time without charging you more money.
At this time <- meaning right NOW, (no matter what people say) there is no "waiving of overstay fines" :O there is no "automatic 90 days" :O You need to follow the rules, get your embassy letter and get your unable to travel extension at the immigration office.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the implications when an 'unable to travel due to covid-19' visa extension expires in Thailand. It explains that the extension is not automatically regularized and requires continued application and approval from immigration. Attendees are advised to secure the necessary embassy letter and necessary paperwork before their extension runs out, as overstay fines are not waived, and conditions differ based on the immigration office.
This is good to know. I was wondering why they gave me only 18 days on the stamp. I guess they're prioritizing bureaucracy (and money) over safety (and common sense) :/
I wish they would just do like other governments and simply allow overstays... that is, until it seems safe to require thousands of people to go to immigration
Yes, I agree to you sir Tod this is not the final extension yet, and your application remains uncertain depending on their approval. I just got mine toda, and was asked to wait till April 20, 2020.
You might also need a copy or registration (address) as well as the letter from your embassy with your name on it- 1900 baht two pictures. Two copies of everything signed. Passport visa etc...
Didn't even notice. Thanks for that Tod. That's why they asked me to go back on the 10th haha cheers again for all your help. Bloody legend mate πππ»
