This is what I am worried about with the Visa amnesty. 23 years in Thailand on a Non O

I don't want to fly home to my passport country

I want to go to a neighboring country and get another Non O visa

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user expresses concern about the Visa amnesty period after spending 23 years in Thailand on a Non-O visa and wishes to travel to a neighboring country to obtain a new visa instead of returning home. Responses highlight that options are currently limited due to the need for Thai consulates and borders to open, advising on possible extensions and the automatic switch to amnesty when the current stamp expires.

Actually the answers are

get the 60 day visit family hard stamp extension

OR

go on the amnesty and pray the borders open before your visa expires AND before the 31st of July when the amnesty runs out.

OR

qualify for and apply for the year extension based on what ever you're getting a Non-O visa for.

There's no other options other than those really :(

At this time you have limited options:

IF you're on a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa <- the kind you bounce out and back in on every 90 days, you have a couple choices. If you have the visa based on marriage to a thai or raising half thai children go get a 60 day visit thai family extension from the immigration office for 1900baht. That would give you a "hard stamp" extension for 2 months and buy time to see if/when the borders open so you can bounce out and back

OR

You could do nothing :O and when your current 90 day entry stamp runs down you will switch over to the "amnesty" automatically and be allowed to stay until no longer than the 31st of July.

OR

Another option would be to go to the immigration office and apply for a yearly extension (if you can meet the requirements for the type of extension you would be applying for).

Those are it I'm afraid.

Unfortunately what you want to do has very little to do with what your options are. As far as being able to go to another country and buy a new Non-O, you need to wait for the thai consulates nearby to open, the borders of that country to open AND the borders of thailand to re-open for foreigners to enter the country, SO keep your eye on the news and see what happens.
