Why is Tod so appreciated in the Thailand visa community?

ORIGINAL POSTER
OFF TOPIC; NOT visa/extension related

I wanted to take a second and thank every one who posted their thanx on this and the other threads in the group.

It really means a great deal to me that you value my (and the other mods) opinions about visa stuff.

I started posting on this group because the visa/extension info about thailand is just a black hole of bad information and I wanted to give accurate advice (whether your office follows it or not ๐Ÿ˜• )

I am still here, I am still terse, coarse, acerbic, borderline condescending <- in other words just like my business card says

FYIโ€ฆknowing stuff and being kind donโ€™t have to be mutually exclusive skills. I have worked as an engineer at large US companies for over 30 years, and yeah, I have to get along with some pretty smart folks with limited people skills (and they wear that as a badge of honor) to do what I need to do, but the ones I remember (and admireโ€ฆbeyond the immediate transaction of whatever I was able to get from them) are the ones that can do both.

Looking back at my career, as I prepare to retire, I thought I was pretty hot stuff for the first 15-20 years (maybe I was, probably I wasnโ€™t, but I definitely thought I was, and treated people like I wasโ€ฆthey needed to โ€œpay the priceโ€ of accommodating me to get my advice and attentionโ€ฆand a surprising number of people did) until someone (very undiplomatically!) pointed that out to me.

Long story short, 10 years later, I have dialed it back on the technical knowledge and spent time improving my people skills. And I am absolutely sure I have been both more effective and valuable to my team members and business partners. And I am much happier.

Re-reading this before postingโ€ฆmaybe I should start my next career as a life coach? Everyone else seems to be doing it.

Tod's the first to admit he's sometimes a pain in the ass. However on the plus side, he's incredibly smart, knowledgeable and up-to-date about all things Thai visa-related. Underneath the crusty exterior lies a very caring and super helpful guy.
Claire **********
@Jennifer ********
totally agree and actually after youโ€™ve spent years dealing with the same questions and most often from people who donโ€™t use the brain they were born with, you can understand Tod being a little crusty ๐Ÿ˜Š
Jennifer *********
@Claire *********
only a "little" crusty????โ€‹Hmmmm.โ€‹
