ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS:
(ESPECIALLY NEW ONES)
We have gotten a crazy influx of member requests; that's to be expected, seeing as the easy way to stay (taking 60 day covid extensions like many thousands of people have the last 2+ years) is over. It appears that the newbies need a lesson in how this group is managed.
The visa advice group on F/B is NOT run like a "normal" thai related group. :O The information about entry, visas and extensions is so knowledge intensive and varies so widely from each immigration office, each embassy, each border entry point that running it like a 'normal' group is not possible. :/
Sadly, this isn't a group you come to chew the fat, bounce ideas or your experiences of how to further your stay here off each other.
There are more than enough thai related groups out on the inter-web where you can do that.
This group is a place to come, ask your question(s) get your answers and hopefully follow the advice to a successful outcome.
Keep in mind what ever your experience might have been at an embassy, an entry point, or an immigration office does NOT mean that everyone will have that same experience when dealing with them.
Example; that you entered the country 1000 times and were never asked for proof of funds when you stamped in does not mean there is no rule about being required to show proof of funds in CASH if you're asked <- because there is definitely a rule about it.
The moderating team members are here to provide accurate timely and concise visa, extension & entry information. We do this for free, we donate our time so you people don't run completely off the rails, so you people know about the stamps you're here on and what your options are to get in to the country, to get visas and to get extensions.
We are not here to be your friends. There are only a finite number of ways to stay here, your situations are not special, are not unique, and you are far from the first foreigner to experience what ever it is you're trying to do. You can hate the message but don't hate on the messenger.
The reason we close posts so quickly is this:
We used to let posts stay open, and what would inevitably happen is; after the poster got the correct information some well meaning yet totally clueless person would post the WRONG information and start the whole thread all over again :/. That's when we implemented a policy that as soon as the O/P got the correct information we close the post.
Also whether you believe it or not, unfortunately sometimes the correct answer is; GO to your immigration office, POST on a group related to where you live in thailand, or GO read the requirements at the website of the embassy you're going to for a visa.
ANYONE who wants to contribute to a post that is closed can message one of the moderating team and we can re-open a post. (y)
I believe there is no visa group/forum or message board that has as accurate or as up to date information about entry/visas/extensions to thailand than this group.
I completely realize the moderating policy might not be be suitable to everyone. If it's not your cup of tea, please, by all means, feel free to leave the group and find answers by other avenues.
Believe me when I say we are here to help..
TLDR : Answer Summary
This post serves as a crucial reminder for new members of the Thailand visa advice group regarding its unique structure and operation. It emphasizes that the group is focused solely on providing accurate and timely visa and immigration information rather than casual discussions. Members are encouraged to seek guidance from the moderators who volunteer their time to share expert knowledge, as visa rules can differ significantly based on various factors. The post also addresses the necessity for straightforward communication and the restriction on open posts to maintain information accuracy and avoid misinformation.
