ATTENTION BANGKOK MEMBERS
(ones who use Chaengwattana for their covid extensions)
It appears that the main immigration office at Chaengwattana is taking this hard stance towards people who have been here on back-2-back covid extensions and asking for proof of onward travel to issue another one.
SO (with that being said)
get on the inter-web, book a ticket showing you're leaving in about 55 days from your current extension expiration date. You don't have to show you're going to your country just that you're leaving. Have that ready to show in case you're asked.
Be prepared with it or be prepared to be denied another covid extension :O
Remember covid extensions are 100% at the discretion of the issuing officer/immigration office, you are not owed one, you are not entitled to one. That you want to stay here does not mean you can. :O Meet the requirements, get the extension..
You have been warned...
TLDR : Answer Summary
Recent information indicates that the Chaengwattana immigration office in Bangkok is now requiring proof of onward travel for those seeking COVID extensions, particularly for individuals on back-to-back extensions. If you plan to apply for another extension, it is advisable to book a departure ticket approximately 55 days before your current extension expires. Be aware that these extensions are not guaranteed and depend on the discretion of the immigration officer. There have been no similar reports from the Muang Thong Thani office regarding this requirement, and individual experiences can vary.
