ATTENTION MEMBERS: Marriage extensions of stays
There are NO changes to the financial requirements OR the seasoning requirements for yearly extensions of stays based on marriage to a thai.
Using banked money the 400K baht needs to be in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months prior to you applying for the yearly extension. Keep in mind some offices (Bangkok for one) also tell you to keep the 400K baht in the bank during the under consideration period <- There is NO official rule about this..
As far as using monthly income you can meet the requirements two ways; you can legally work here with a salary of over 40K baht a month, holding a work permit, show your tax documents, your contract, etc
OR
you can transfer IN to the country from abroad into a thai bank account in your name only a minimum of 40K baht a month for the previous 12 months before you apply for your extension.
For extensions based on marriage there is NO combination method where you use income and banked money <- that is ONLY available for extensions based on retirement.
TLDR : Answer Summary
There are currently no changes to the financial and seasoning requirements for yearly extensions of stay based on marriage to a Thai national. Applicants must keep 400,000 baht in a Thai bank account in their name for at least two months prior to applying. Some offices may request that the amount remains in the bank during the application review period, although this is not an official rule. For monthly income, applicants can either earn over 40,000 baht a month with a work permit or transfer a minimum of 40,000 baht per month from abroad into a Thai bank account for the previous 12 months. A combination of income and banked money is not permitted for marriage extensions, only for retirement extensions.
