## UPDATE ON MAE SAI / TACHILEIK BORDER CROSSING

Okay "at this time" this is what it appears is going on at that border crossing. :P

IF you have proof of vax (on paper)

- You stamp out of Mae Sai

- Buy the 500 baht 2 week border pass; looks like a little passport & lets you stay in the border area.

- You stamp in&out of Burma,

- Turn around & stamp right back in to thailand.

You must "buy" the 500 baht border pass, there's no way to get in and out free.

For people who didn't have vax history on paper you need to go to a hospital/clinic (which there are some nearby) and get a negative covid test <- the 7/11 tests are NOT accepted

That's all I got as far as how it works BUT at least it appears like it's open and letting people bounce without too much issue

TLDR : Answer Summary
Current regulations at the Mae Sai / Tachileik border allow travelers with proof of vaccination to stamp out of Thailand, purchase a 500 baht border pass for a two-week stay in the border area, and stamp in and out of Burma. Those without proof must obtain a negative COVID test from a clinic, as self-administered tests from convenience stores are not accepted. Notably, several countries (including Russia and Vietnam) do not require the 500 baht pass. It's advisable to inform Burmese authorities about a quick stamp in and out to avoid unnecessary procedures. Border bouncing with a Non-O multiple entry visa is possible without issues.

UPDATE on the Mae Sai / Tachileik bounce;

When you stamp OUT of thailand tell the people on the burmese side you just want to stamp in&out, they won't even waste the time doing the entry permit, they'll just stamp you in and out ๐Ÿ˜›

Yes, this was my experience there many times. Just pay $10 or 500 baht and say "go back to Thailand." They give you a stamp quick smart and send you on your way. I'm on a 45 day visa waiver now (with extension). I want to do the second land border crossing for the year at Mae Sai. My current extension finishes on March 31 and I understand that is when the 45 day visa option ends so I'm assuming I need to go on March 30 at the latest. This should be possible?

So am I right in thinking that a border bounce there without the cost of travel and coming back in to Thailand visa exempt would just cost 500 baht?
