TLDR : Answer Summary
A 1-year extension of stay for a Non-O visa does not require a border run every 90 days. Instead, holders of the extension must perform 90-day reporting without leaving the country. This distinguishes it from a multi-entry Non-O visa, which allows holders to stay for 90 days per entry and requires exit and re-entry for all subsequent stays.

why not just go in BEFORE the stamp expires and apply for a 60 day visit thai family extension based on marriage to a thai OR see if you're good without doing anything until the 30th?

Why would you wait until the 27th?

On the year-multi-Non-O visa, do you get 90days when you enter back on the last day the visa is valid? So in total you can use it 15 months to stay in Thailand?

Theoretically, you can extend that visa one time for 2 months, so you could turn that 15 months into 17...

correct, (y) the visa is good for unlimited entries during the time it's valid for (a year from the date it was issued) <- meaning IF you exit and re-entry one more time just before the visa itself expired you will get a new 90 day stamp, taking you to 15 months of stay on a year long visa.

The difference between a yearly extension of stay <- (that you get from the immigration office) and a year-long, multi-entry VISA <-that you buy from a thai consulate in another country is on an extension you do 90 day reporting and do NOT need to leave the country BUT on that year-multi-Non-O visa you only get stamped in for 90 days at a time

Simple and nice explanation , thanks Tod

- so do you need to go to immigration office and extend the 90 day stamp or can stay the 12 months and they ignore it at next exit...

I’ve always done a road border run every 90 days to get a new stamp as frankly going to the bkk immigration office is harder 😂
