I'm a US citizen and have visited Thailand many times over the years, always with the visa-exempt 30/60 day stamp. But times have changed and I want a long-term visa and I'm considering all options, including the DTV Muay Thai option. My question concerns age: I'm 60+ and worried that if I apply for the DTV Muay Thai, it will be denied based on my age. Anyone else had this issue?
I just extended my 60 day tourist visa which will expire on Sept 11. Is it possible to apply for and get a retirement visa through an agent before then?
I’ve been digging into the latest updates on visas for Thailand, especially around DTV and retirement options. Some of the changes seem small on paper but could make a big difference for those of us planning longer stays. Curious if anyone here has gone through the process recently and noticed anything new or unexpected?
On a side note, while sorting out my long-term plans here, I’ve also been keeping an eye on the US stock market. With all the swings lately, it’s been tricky deciding whether to hold or move things around. Feels like the same kind of patience and timing we need for visa applications.
Hi. For the past 4 years, I have been a frequent visitor to Thailand, averaging around 7 months per year, in a two trip total. I know i should apply for a retirement visa but having a family back home, it has stopped me from making the move. Last March , while returning to Thailand from a 3 night stay in Vietnam, I was stopped at Thai immigration and questioned about spending too much time in Thailand and not having a proper visa. The agent let me enter Thailand again but informed me that I will be flagged and that I will need a visa for the next time. I will be returning to Thailand again next month after being in my home country for two months. I have a VR visa which I applied for. My question is, will I have a problem with immigration?
Another couple questions for those who have recently been granted an O-A visa via Los Angeles Consulate.
Q1. Did you have an outbound flight booked from Thailand when you submitted your application? (I only have inbound booked as I hope to stay one year).
Q2. How long did you have Thai accommodations booked for your application? ( I want to stay in hotel for 10 days then move into a condo rental. I only have the 10 days booked).
Q3, any and all input on O-A application and subsequent extension appreciated!
6 days left until my retirement visa expires. Is it possible to change to tourist visa before the retirement visa expires, and not have to leave the country?
If you have a retirement visa and 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account and decide to leave Thailand permanently, can I easily transfer that 800,000 baht back to my bank account in Belgium? I've heard it's not easy. Does anyone have experience with this?
I have thai work permit which will expire in end sep 2025.

Hello all once you've qualified and got all your Visa stuff in line and you're living in Thailand on a retirement Visa does the $800,000 Thai baht have to stay in the account for the whole duration of the year or does it just have to be in there a couple months before you renew
