ATTENTION MEMBERS CURRENTLY ON AMNESTY

Please realize that the mod/admin team are NOT unsympathetic to your plight as amnesty is running out :/

BUT

also realize if you've been here for close to 6 months on amnesty and didn't bother to look into some long term extension option before now you did yourself a terrible disservice. :/ :( And that is putting it mildly :O

There is no magic one size fits all fix to staying after this amnesty runs out (Sept 26th).

You either find a long term visa/extension solution (that works), get a letter from your embassy (if they issue one) stating you can't travel due to covid-19 and apply for a 30 day extension, get a letter from a doc/hospital stating you can't travel and apply for an extension due to medical reasons OR as the immigration directive states you "prepare to depart" <- meaning you need to exit thailand on or before the 26th of Sept.

Sadly there are a finite number of reasons people are on amnesty, your situation is not "special", it is not "unique", nor is it "different" from any of the thousands of people here on amnesty. Truth be told, there are just so many reasons you can still be IN thailand ON amnesty at this point.

I'm sorry this message sounds harsh, that it isn't painting a rosy image, that it's not easy to stomach & that it's not what you want to hear BUT the facts are the facts.

As bitter a pill it is to swallow, those pretty much are your options at this point.

NOTE: No disrespect is intended o implied in this message to any member of the group or their situation here. We are not making light of it in any way shape or form

TLDR : Answer Summary
As the amnesty in Thailand nears its end on September 26th, expats must take action to secure their stay. The admin team emphasizes the importance of exploring long-term visa options well in advance. Expats can consider applying for a 30-day extension if they have documentation from their embassy regarding travel restrictions due to COVID-19 or if medical reasons prevent travel. If these options are not viable, individuals are advised to prepare for departure by the deadline. The message stresses that individual circumstances are not unique, and it is crucial to act decisively given the limited options available.
