TLDR : Answer Summary
Amnesty extensions for all visa types in Thailand, except long-term extensions (e.g., retirement, marriage, employment, education), have been approved until April 30. This means that those whose visas are set to expire during this period will be automatically extended without needing to visit immigration. Various community comments clarified specific situations regarding automatic extensions, requirements for long-term visas, and how to handle 90-day reporting.

I came on feb 14 on non exempt 30 day, I extended once until April 13. I then did the Covid extn (I went early on April 1). I got 7 days on top of the 13th (or 20 days from my visit) to April 21st when I hv to show up to get another 15 (or maybe 23 to make 30??).
So does this mean i dont hv to go until April 30 to get another 12 or 13 days? Or i can go on 21st to get the 15 (or maybe 23) to take me upoto May 12 (- the 30 days from April 13th?) Seems to make little difference (go on 21st or go on 30th) in my situation.....
Just to confirm, I arrived from Korea on a visa exempt entry (30 days) on Feb 28th I am currently on my 30 day extension until April 27th.. does this mean I do not have to go to immigration now or leave by the 27th?
Am now granted stay until at least April 30th now..
Hopefully the date will get pushed further back from April 30th as well, any thoughts?
I have a stamp until March 18th with 10 extra days for consideration. Do I still need to go to immigration in the 18th to bring my Visa to the 28th? Or will that be done automatically now?
Hi howbout me and my friend we stranded here also our visit visa will expird on 15th of april r we going to extend? Before 15th or wait till 30th april?
I am having a 3 month non o. Which the end date is 11 April. I can normally extend for 60 days. What would be the deal for this? Do I need to go to immigration or do I get also the extension until the 30th April automatically?
1 year (or until the contract ends) extension is only available for Non-B. Or apply for normal extension (without meeting requirement) then receive 7 days stamp to get out Thailand.
Or if it is still the case at the end o April, you maybe able to apply for COVID-19 extension, You need letter from your embassy to state you cannot leave the country because of situation.
I still haven't used my embassy letter for the extension due to covid 19. My Visa extension will end on May 2. Will I be able to to use the letter to stay until June then ?
Hi just want to thank everyone here all ways been great help. I have one question I came in to Thailand on February 23rd on stamp on arrival I then extended at immigration so to get a never 30 days which will run out on the 22nd of April will I be covered buy this to the 30th April sorry if a stuiped question I am hoping can get home buy then but would take the pressure off 🇬🇧🙏
nope, they were turning people away this morning. you ONLY go if you are on a long term extension (marriage, employment, retirement, raising children etc)
you are misunderstanding. IF you are on a year extension of stay (FOR ANY REASON) and your extension is going to expire you need to go apply for a new extension, There is NO sliding the date to after the 30th of April. NOTHING like that was written into the policy. This does NOT concern year or long term extension holders you go get your extension like normal
Thanks for clarifying. So people who avoid making the trip for a new extension during the amnesty, will still be fined for overstaying, if they wait until the crisis is over? Of course, doing your Extension now should be easy as all the tourists and 90 day reporters will not be there!
yes me too, will see how it will develop, it says: Foreigners who are due to file a 90-day report between March 26 and April 30 have also been temporarily exempted until further notice.
If you are doing 90 day reports it means you are on a long term extension. Read the post again. You can do your 90 day report using the online sytem. If not then you will need to do it in person at the immigration office.
I am on a 1 year multiple entry marriage visa from Savannahkhet. It expires May 10th, but I have to leave again on April 12th. Do I still need to go to the immigration to make a 60 day extension or am I part of the automatic extension from the government? Thanks.
After entering on the 30 day visa exemption, I got the standard additional 30 days, and then applied and got a covid-19 extension with an under consideration stamp saying to come back to immigration on April 19th. If accepted, I should get a new stamp to May 4th. Do I still need to go???
What ‘section’ do Non B visa holders with 90 day bounces(renew entry stamp every 90 days)fall under pls? Is that what they call ‘border pass’? Stamp expires 13th April and as Im reading it I now have until 30th April and if extended 30th May and then once borders open 7 days to get a new entry stamp?
nope, nothing to do with a border pass <- that's Lao, cambodians and burmese who BUY a border pass every day and were stuck in the country when the borders close
You on year-long, multi-entry Non-Immigrant visas (where you bounce every 90 days) get an extension until April 30th
I had 2+1 visa till 23th of March, and "under consideration stamp" after (no overstays). So my visa extension is in "under consideration " status on 26 and now.
That is good news. I know this remains to be seen. But if we apply for the first extension (a normal one) , would be able to when it gets closer? And would the requirements for that still be the same as before ?
Sounds good. Mine is a visa exemption that arrived on March 19, which qualifies for an auto extension. And Im in Bangkok . Closest one I'd be going to would be Muang Thong Thani which I have heard and seen them turn people away for an extension. Could go there in person and ask. But I may be better off waiting until it gets closer to that date.
I'm only asking if we would be able to seek a normal extension before April 30th, if needed to? (which we would hope not as they may possibly extend that beyond April 30th).
I don't even know what question you're asking :( the requirements for the extensions didn't change, the only thing that changed is peoples stamps are now extended until the 30th of April.
if you arrived in thailand on the 17th of March you got stamped in until the 15th of april <- meaning your stamp expired AFTER the 26th of March and you get the automatic extension
