Hi for anyone inquiring about the temporary immigration points in Phuket they are all closed. They were operative for about a day and a half. The Karon one never opened and people were allowed through to the Chalong one on day two.
The Head of Thai Immigration announced in thephuketnews.com that cross district travel was allowed for immigration but it wasn’t from Karon which went on full district lockdown early last week.
For anyone interested in a letter from the British Embassy - they no longer issue them. They spelt both my middle name and my family name wrongly in my letter they sent on Wednesday and despite emailing them back within 90 seconds they responded on Friday that people on ‘tourist visas’ no longer require them. Despite me making explicitly clear I am not a tourist.
Sorry for starting a new thread but comments turned off on my original query.
Daniel Thomas (with an ‘h’) and Herlihy (ending with a ‘y’ not a ‘t’) for anyone working at the British Embassy.
TLDR : Answer Summary
Daniel Thomas Herlihy reported that all temporary immigration points in Phuket are closed, with only the Chalong point being operational for a brief period. He mentioned issues with a letter from the British Embassy, which he received with incorrect personal details, and they no longer issue such letters due to changes in policies regarding tourist visas.
