Is it possible to transfer to another visa with an under consideration stamp or should the under consideration stamp be closed out first, and then apply for a new visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about transferring to another visa while having an 'under consideration' stamp in Thailand. According to comments, you cannot apply for a new visa with just an 'under consideration' stamp; you must first receive a second stamp indicating a final 'extension of stay'. Furthermore, it is crucial to inform immigration officials of your intention to apply for a non-immigrant visa while requesting a 30-day extension, as this helps in ensuring the 'under consideration' stamp is valid long enough for your potential visa application.

Hi Tod, I'm intending to apply for a non-imm visa after the second stamp but I forgot to let them know and they gave me the considering stamp until 20 Otc, so what should I do now? I'm confused. My University prepared the documents for me to apply for the non-imm visa but now it seems impossible with 15 days is the limit for to apply for Non-IMM visa from extensions. 😢

Got it, I'll take a try. Thanks a lot :)

Thank you, do you think they will let me move the day in the stamp and do I need to book a queue again?

All you can do is try, and no just show up with the paperwork and see if they will move it.

You need to go back to the immigration office with paperwork from the university and show them that you NEED the under consideration stamp moved to an earlier date. They will do it for you IF you show why you need it done, <- like because you're applying for an in country Non-Imm visa

Nope, you cannot apply for a visa in country from an under consideration stamp, you need the second stamp <- the final 'extension of stay" to do that

AND

When you apply for the 30 day embassy request extension you need to let the people know you're intending to apply for a non-imm visa so they can make the under consideration stamp short enough so that when you go back to get your extension stamp you still have at least 15 days left on it so you can apply

so 15 days is the limit for to apply for Non-IMM visa from extensions?

@Travis *******
no, 15 days is required at MOST immigration offices to issue in country Non-Imm visas because they have a 14 day under consideration period for the visa application.

BUT

Some offices like Chiang Mai require 21 days left on your stamp to do it because there is a 20 day under consideration period for the visa application

Is the 15 days required if you transfer from a non-b multiple to a non-o ?

@Martin *******
If you are on a year-long, multi-entry Non-B visa (meaning you're on a 90 day entry stamp that went to amnesty from it) you can't get an in country VISA of any type off it. So you couldn't switch to a Non-O visa in country from it

there is no such thing in country as transferring from a non-b multiple to a non-o :( You cannot change visa TYPES inside the country (visa to visa even if you had amnesty in between) you can only change from a 30 day visa exempt or a 60 day tourist visa to a non-imm visa) OR go from an extension for one reason to an extension for another..

thanks tod, can I move to a non o from a embassy letter extension or am I out of luck?
