Marc Jack Fearnhead Sorry to jump in but I have similar question and you chaps seem very knowledgeable on visa and extension rules.

I have entered 10 days ago on Non-O based on marriage to thai.

I was only issued a single entry in London. This has now obviously been crossed through and used.

Several times before I got my visa in Laos, Savannaket RTE.

Am I right in reading I need to go to my local immigration to extend this for one year.

When can I do this as I have to leave again in 8 weeks, 6 weeks in Indonesia then back to Thailand again.

This pattern will continue.

Do you know how long this may take on your experience at your immigration office.

As per the post above I have the 400k in my kasikorn account and can get all documents suck as wife’s ID card, blues book etc.

Any advice appreciated gents

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on extending their Non-O visa, which is based on their marriage to a Thai citizen. They currently have a single entry and plan to leave for Indonesia soon, raising concerns about their ability to apply for a one-year extension before their departure. Community responses clarify that they typically need to be within 30-45 days of their entry stamp to apply for an extension, which may not align with their travel plans. Suggestions include considering a multi-entry Non-O visa from Indonesia to facilitate easier travel and applying for a 60-day family visit extension before leaving, which could help accommodate their schedule.

Would a 60 day visit family extension shift your dates enough to fit in with your travel schedule I.e if you get that (along with re-entry permit) just before you leave for Indonesia you would be able to apply for year extension next time. Not sure how things stand with CoE etc in this situation though

well spotted
@Jo**
(y),

they might be able to get the 60 day visit thai family extension (AND a re-entry permit) before they leave this time, then come in get stamped in get thru quarantine and still have enough time on that stamp to apply for the year extension. Then wait out the 30 day under consideration period, go back get the year stamp, get a multiple re-entry permit and they'd be good to come in and out the rest of the year.

I’ll go and ask the nice chap in Sa Kaeo again.

Not been for a few years but I’m sure he’ll remember me as I was there quite often, oddly he advised me to cross the border at Poipet into Cambodia for the 90 day extension as it was easier.

Is the “under consideration” time for them to carry out the administration side?

If I have all the documents and funds there it just seems a long process to put a sticker in a passport.

Maybe it’s the Thai way!

Get the re-entry at Survhanibumi when I leave.

Yes sir.

I know I’ll have to do this all again.

Company pay for everything, I just have to do the quarantine and not go mental.

Are you in Bangkok ?

Remember if you live in buriram they split that office off from Sa Kaeo and only people in Surin go there. The buriram-ese use the two immigration offices in Buriram proper.

Another thing to consider
@Ma**
would be to go to the immigration office with your thai wife, explain that you travel like you do, and SEE if they'll give you a longer "under consideration" period. I had an acquaintance who needed to go to the US during the under consideration period after he applied for the year marriage extension. He talked to the office when he applied for the extension and got a TWO month under consideration stamp, he bought a re-entry permit, left and came back just before that stamp expired.

It's worth a shot for you to ask as you're out nothing. If they can't do it you should still see if the thai consulate in Indonesia will issue a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa. Because otherwise you're going to be buying a 90 day single entry every time you enter the country.

You do realize that as it is now you're going to go thru the same entry procedure getting back in every time (covid-insurance, negative covid test, fit to fly, COE, repatriation flight back, quarantine, etc)

30 days under consideration allows you to stay in Thailand during that time not?

it does indeed allow you to stay because it's the first month of the extension they're going to give you when you go back.

You can even leave the country when you get that 30 day under consideration stamp (as long as you get a re-entry permit AND come back before that stamp runs out).

What I would say IS when you do go to Indonesia (where you'll have to apply for a new Non-O visa and permission to enter just like you did already) I'd see if they will sell you a year long, multi-entry Non-O visa (some consulates WILL do it) AND that way every time you enter the country you'd get stamped in for 90 days for the whole year the visa is valid for

Thanks mate, not the best news but at least I have some firm knowledge on the way forwards.

Not familiar with the extensions as I’ve only ever been issues 1 year multi entry visas.

A few years back I did try to extend this in the immigration office local to me in Sa Kaeo, I ended up leaving Thailand to do it. 🤯

The Jakarta RTE do issue multi entries, I applied and was provisionally granted one but there I had to apply for COE at the same time.

I couldn’t do this as the lack of flights from Jakarta to Bangkok.

I have read several posts and replies from you in the short time i have been a member of this group and reactivated my Facebook account.

Keep up the good work and thank you.

. It might be an idea whilst you're in Thailand to get the 400k baht into a bank account, so by the time you apply for your next visa from Jakarta, the money will have seasoned. Assuming of course you haven't already taken this action.

Yeah I done this about 6 weeks ago in anticipation of extending in Thailand.

Thanks for the advice.

Appreciated.

Sadly, you won't have enough time to apply for a yearly extension before you have to leave.

You can apply for a yearly extension at many immigration offices when you have 45 days or less left on your current entry stamp from the Non-O. (and some offices allow you to do it only when you have 30 days or less left on your current stamp)

BUT

When you do apply you will get a 30 day under consideration stamp and then you come back on that date to get the year extension inked in

Time wise it doesn't work out because you'll have to leave the country before you would have to go back on the under consideration stamp date to get the year extension..
