TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai Cabinet has approved a COVID extension program allowing for a 60-day extension until December 31, 2021. However, immigration offices are reportedly enforcing stricter requirements for this extension, particularly for those who have been in Thailand since before the March 2020 lockdown. It is essential for applicants to be prepared with proof of departure dates and to understand that extensions are granted at the discretion of immigration officials. Many in the community are questioning the one-month extension duration and its implications, while some are unsure if the program will be officially signed and published.

Okay I thought I could keep this post open BUT it's turning into a "if I get a covid extension now can I also apply for one at the end of Dec" 😮

So on that note we are done. AND remember it has NOT been signed or published in the royal gazette about the covid program running until the 31st of Dec.

IF you need.want a covid extension, at this time, we are recommending you go on or before the 26th of Nov.

I'm curious, Is there still a chance they do not sign?

My covid extension expires on dec 7th. If I extend a day before and receive 2 months, will I be eligable to extend yet again before dec 31st?

@Chris ****
sadly that is between you and your immigration office. They are who you need to be talking to
Keven ****
It's unclear how they only extended it until Dec. 31 (1 month), instead of 2 months... Why?

the country is opening up and nearby countries are opening too. You know the covid extensions aren't a forever thing right? They are to give you time until you can go back to where you came from 😛

Dear Benjamin, I would not wish to create a new post, just a question, are immigration offices open tomorrow, Friday, regardless of the Loy Krathong holiday? Thanks!

immigration offices are open tomorrow. Loy Krathong is not an official Thai holiday.

ATTENTION:

We are getting reports from people that immigration offices around the country are becoming more stringent in the requirements to get a covid extension granted (this is especially true if you've been here since before the lock down in March 2020).

Several offices are asking people to show proof of departure within the next 60 days to issue a covid extension.

Keep in mind covid extensions are TOTALLY at the discretion of the issuing office/officer and they are not something anyone here is entitled to by any wild stretch of the imagination. 🙂

Be prepared when you go for your extension (y)

Darío Lípin Milongas which doesn't mean that you won't get a hard time applying for a covid extension seeing as until covid that wasn't an extension option.

Be prepared is all we're saying :)
