TLDR : Answer Summary
To qualify for the Non-O visa based on marriage, the funds must be transferred from abroad into a Thai bank account under your name. Domestic transfers from another Thai bank account will not suffice unless you are legally working in Thailand.

Hi Tod. So I transferred some money using TransferWise and someone in another post mentioned that they have had trouble using this method before. Is this an issue you are familiar with?

You need to update your bank book, check the transaction codes and see if it coded as an international transfer OR as a domestic one.

That is between you, transferwise and your bank.. BUT if you are applying for a 90 day non-O inside the country you have to show the money came from abroad.

Ok, thank you. I will check today. It will be for the 1 year extension of stay.

Thanks again Tod

will be interested to hear how you get on. I always use transferwise and was hoping, UK bank statement as well as transferwise statement would be enough to support my Thai bank statement. I wont be doing my application until Jan/Feb.

i shall keep you posted ๐Ÿ™‚. I was thinking of taking my UK statement and confirmation from TransferWise as proof. But Tod mentioned above that this applies to applying for a 90 day non o inside Thailand. I already have a multiple entry non o but just changed to the 60 day visit friends and family visa. So I am not sure if it applies still

Edit: ok, Benjaminโ€™s comment put an end to my plan haha. Will ask my wife to call immigration for me and check ๐Ÿ˜€

you didn't change any visa, you were on a 90 day Non-O entry which expired and went to amnesty and then you applied for a 60 day visit thai family extension of that. Your next step would be applying for the yearly extension and for that you would need incoming transfers from abroad of at least 40K baht a month each month every month for the previous 12 months.

join the transferwise thailand f/b group if you have questions on what to do IF your transfers flag as domestic (because you can get something that shows the originally came from abroad). This isn't the group for that discussion ;)

You can not combine foreign and domestic bank statements to meet the 40K THB a month for the 1 year extension of stay based on marriage.

To get the initial 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage using banked money you have to transfer the money in from abroad into a thai bank account in your name only.

you can have fund sourced inside Thailand only if you have been and are working in Thailand legally.
