I'm wanting to apply for a so-called "retirement" visa but I'm confused with the bank requirements. Obviously I can't open a Thai bank account until I have the visa, and I can't get the visa without proof of funds.
From what I'm reading on this page is that if I apply from my country of residence Australia, I just have to show either equivalent of 800,000THB in Aus dollars in an Aus bank account or income of 65000THB also in AUD in an Aus bank account. Is this correct, or am I reading something wrong?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Bobby Howard inquires about the bank requirements for applying for a retirement visa in Thailand while residing in Australia. He seeks clarification on needing to show proof of funds either in the form of 800,000 THB equivalent in Australian dollars or a monthly income of 65,000 THB, noting the challenge of opening a Thai bank account prior to obtaining the visa.
