TLDR : Answer Summary
For a marriage-based visa extension in Thailand, the requirement is to have 400,000 baht in your bank account for at least 2 months prior to your application. While some immigration offices may request that the funds remain in your account during the consideration period, this is not a strict requirement. After the application is submitted, you can utilize the money as needed; however, it's necessary to ensure the balance returns to 400K baht at least 2 months before your next visa extension.

The 400K baht banked money method for proof of funds for an extension based on marriage to a thai need to be in the bank account for 2 months before you apply for the extension.

SOME offices request you keep the funds in the account during the under consideration period (but this is not a posted requirement).

After that you can do what you want with the money as long as it's back to 400K baht 2 months before your next yearly extension

How are the rules, if applying for an O visa based on marriage inside Thailand, the 400k don't need to be from an account outside Thailand? In your answer above, were mentioned extension.

there is no proof of funds origin for the 400K to get either the initial 90 day Non-O visa or the year extension based on marriage to a thai

40K monthly income is also allowed i've read. How do we proof to Thai immigration your income if you're self employed? Provide tax returns from your home country?

I believe you're confusing HOW you show that income,

IF you come from a country that doesn't issue the income affidavit

AND

don't legally work inside thailand on a work permit which shows 40K baht a month in salary, that means you have to transfer the funds in 40k baht a month, each month, every month for the previous 12 months before you apply for a yearly extension.

This means you have to use banked money the first year and can only use monthly income by transfer method the second year

My post above does not matter anymore. I've just read from another post by you that the 400K can be in savings account in your home country/bank. Didn't knew that and that make things much easier to apply for a marriage visa one day. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

that is to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa from the thai consulate in Savannakhet, not to get any visa/extension in thailand

So if i understand you correctly: First year put 400K in my thai bank account and apply for Marriage visa. When i have my approval i need to transfer 40K every month from my home country directly to my thai bank checking account during my first year. After doing this for 12 months i can apply for extension the marriage visa and use the proof of the 12x "40K deposits" and i can transfer the 400K from the first year back to my home country bank account and keep continuing the monthly 40k deposits to my Thai bank account. Even if the account goes to 100k because i use the money to live and pay expenses in thailand is fine as long i keep depositing 40K every month into the account...

Dont wait for the approval to start transfering 40k, as you may not have 12 months of payments recorded at the point you apply for 2nd year extension, (you may only have 11).
