1. I am applying for my FIRST visa based on being over 50 and retirement here in CNX. ( currently have 28 days left on a visa exempt admission - extended.)

2. I opened a local account at BKK Branch Bank at Pantip Plaza Chiang Mai. October of 2019.

I put in 800k baht In account.

3. So what exactly do I do to prove the money requirement ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Sarah Marie seeks guidance on how to prove the money requirement for her first Non-O visa application based on retirement in Chiang Mai. She has already deposited the necessary 800,000 baht in a local bank account and is looking for detailed steps to meet the documentation requirements for the visa application.

It's ONLY required to show as coming from overseas when you are applying for the in country 90 day Non-O visa. It is NOT required when you are applying for a yearly extension of stay.

Also I wonder how many days it takes the bank to prepare that letter

Remember in Chiang Mai you need 21 days or MORE left on your current stamp so you could go when ever you get the documentation together. You just can't have less than 21 days on an entry stamp to do the conversion..

usually they can do it while you wait BUT some branches tell you to come back the next day.

Post on a Chiang Mai F/B group too and ask about the letter because now in addtion to the 'regular bank letter" you need to have a printed and stamped transaction history too.

okay people this is what the stamps look like going from a 30 day visa exempt entry to a Non-O in country visa, a 90 day stamp and finally a year extension with a re-entry permit.

First off did you go to the immigration office and get the handout that lists the requirements as far as documentation to apply for the in country 90 day Non-O visa?

You need at least 21 days left on your current 30 day visa exempt, 60 day tourist visa OR a 30 day extension from one of those entry stamps.

You get a letter from the bank stating you opened the account on xxx date, and as of today it has xxx baht in it (I think you need that letter to be dated the same date as you apply for the 90 day Non-O visa in Chiang Mai) . You update the bank book on the date you apply to show the current balance.

AFAIK there is no requirement that the 800K baht be in the account any length of time when applying for the 90 day Non-O VISA. (that comes into consideration ONLY when you apply for the yearly extension after you get this first Non-O visa and new 90 day entry stamp)

21 days left on 30 day extended 30 day exempt good information thanks

Looks like I’ll be heading back to immigration tomorrow or the next day after going to the bank and getting a letter stating when I open the account and showing the 800 K in the account as well as updating my bank book and then submitting the rest of the documentation thank you.
