AMNESTY DECREE SIGNED AND PUBLISHED

http://www.ratchakitcha.soc.go.th/DATA/PDF/2563/E/229/T_0032.PDF

Keep in mind even if this amnesty is extended IF you went and applied for the 30 day embassy request extension and were given an "under consideration stamp" with a date you should report back to the immigration office, no matter what anyone tells you, you NEED to go back and get that "loop closed" (get the second stamp of the two stamp process).

TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent amnesty decree has been signed and published in Thailand, allowing for visa extensions. It's vital for those who applied for a 30-day extension and received an 'under consideration stamp' to return to the immigration office for the completion of the process. Although discussions about the extension are ongoing, as of now, there hasn't been official approval for any new extensions. Community members are encouraged to stay updated through credible sources and discuss their experiences to avoid confusion.

I'm going to close comments on this post for now. I haven't seen *ANYTHING* official yet, just newspaper articles.

Heads up people AT THIS TIME <- (meaning right now at 6:15 PM Bangkok time) no matter what you are reading on the inter-web in f/b pages or forums relating to thailand OR no matter what you're hearing this new amnesty extension HAS NOT been approved yet.

There is a high likelihood that it will be approved and that it will be pretty close to the streaming broadcast immigrations made this afternoon that was re-capped in that Phuket news article BUT it has not been approved yet..
