TLDR : Answer Summary

Curiosity question: What is a "visa non o ME" for? Looking at the Thai Consulate Savannakhet web page, it doesn't list any non o visa category as "ME" (or any other abbreviations -- it only describes the different categories, such as "purpose of visiting family member of Thai nationality, a spouse of Thai national", "A spouse or parent works in Thailand", "For the purpose of working for NGO in Thailand", "For the purpose of retirement in Thailand").

visa non o ME is a very short version of the 1 year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant O visa based on being married to a Thai National.

D'oh! Nevermind. It occurs to me that "ME" probably means "multi-entry".

Mario Humton got a message from the visa run company that stated you do NOT need to go cancel this current year long extension you have based on marriage to a thai national at your immigration office before you go get your new year-long, multi-entry Non-O in Savannakhet.

You can just stamp out at the border and go buy your new visa :)

Mario, that person I tagged in your post
@Amor****
, runs a visa run company that goes to Savannakhet. Let's let her answer the question because they will know for sure.

That is a good question.

IF I had to guess I would say you SHOULD go to the immigration office and cancel your current extension, then leave the country to get the new year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa from Savannakhet

BUT

Honestly I do not know if failing to cancel it at the immigration office will affect you after you come back on the new visa. I know it won't matter in Savannakhet getting the new Non-O, won't matter at the border, getting stamped in on the new Non-O for 90 days, BUT I don't know if it will cause you grief at the immigration office that you use or not.

, do they have to cancel their current year long marriage extension from the immigration office if they're going to get a new Non-O visa in Savannakhet?
