TLDR : Answer Summary
Yes, it is possible to change from a tourist visa to a Non-B visa while staying in Thailand, provided that certain conditions are met. Specifically, you would need to apply at the immigration office in your area, and your employer must fulfill the required documentation. Additionally, most immigration offices require that you have at least 15 days left on your current visa stamp to submit your application, with some locations, like Chiang Mai, requiring a minimum of 21 days.
it totally IS possible to go from a tourist visa to an in country 90 day Non-B visa at the immigration office in the area where you live IF your employer can meet the documentation requirements AND if you have enough time left on your current entry/extension stamp.
Most immigration offices require you have 15 days or more left on your current stamp to apply for the in country Non-Imm visa (because it goes under review for 14 days)
In Chiang Mai they require a minimum of 21 days left on your stamp to do it
