I am coming to thailand to retire in June this year and was hoping to use my income from NZ. It will be verified by the NZ embassy in thailand and I will be applying for my retirement visa in Pattaya.

U say that by way of income that this has to go into your bank account every month? Not just verified as we have had this income to the needed amount all of the last few years but this is in NZ.

I have searched the internet and not found a clear site that explains the use of your income and what are the steps to get the visa approved this way! Do u know one? Please help in any way. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the process of applying for a retirement visa in Thailand using income from New Zealand. The primary concern is ensuring that the income, verified by the New Zealand embassy, meets the requirements set by Thai immigration. A key point mentioned is that the New Zealand embassy in Bangkok does issue notarized affidavits of income, which can be used as proof of funds for the retirement visa application. The required income amounts are 65,000 baht per month for retirement visas.

You are indeed correct, I just got off the phone with the consular services section of the New Zealand Embassy and they DO issue the affidavit of income from abroad notary letter.

If you're in Bangkok you make an appointment, show up, fill out the letter (you are NOT required to show proof that what you're putting on the letter is backed up with anything BUT you can if you want to) and they will notarize it

That notarized document from your consulate is all you need to show proof of funds for getting visa/extension inside the country. (you need to state a minimum of 40K baht a month for marriage/raising thai children and 65K baht a month for retirement).

Good luck with it, you are one of just a handful of countries that still issue that affidavit here in thailand (y)

all done with email.

they issued the letter via post and the payment was via bank account.

I provided the Inland revenue account screen shots as evidence of income.

Received income letter within a week.

Great service

Can you tell how you did it by email? Did you use the standard "info" email address at the NZ embassy in BKK to make initial contact or a different email? How did you source the documents to complete? Did the embassy send it to you after you made contact? Any advice is appreciated.

was really easy. There's even an option if you cannot use a Thai bank app. Or have a friend with one.

The letter then stated I had provided proof of income.

You will find clear instructions in the email they send.

Good luck.

I used myir app the IRD has your earnings information. Go to to the year to date earnings copy that.

Go to yearly income and copy that.

The page will have your name and IRD number

Yes I contacted thru that address using the heading affidavit of income.

They gave details of process and bank details.

Once you make payment via a internet banking Thai account you copy deposit attach to email with your passport main page photo. Income photos and send along with your postal address

And the first thing I'd ask is are you SURE that the Kiwi Embassy in Bangkok issues affidavit of income from abroad notary letters (probably called a stat dec like Auzzies call them)

Back at the end of 2018 beginning of 2019 the UK, US and Australian consulates here stopped issuing the affidavit of income from abroad notary letters meaning IF people from those countries wanted to use monthly income method to meet the proof of funds they had no choice but to transfer in to a thai bank account in their name only the required amount each month, every month for the previous 12 months BEFORE they apply for their yearly extension.

NOW for the countries whose consulates DO issue the income affidavit letter (Canada, I think Sweden, Denmark, and others) you CAN use it for proof of monthly income.

I do not know if New Zealand consulate here in Bangkok issues that affidavit/notary letter or not. SO that's something you will have to check.

IF it's anything like the other consulates used to do, you fill out the letter saying how much you get a month, and they notarize it.

You CAN use the affidavit of income notary from your embassy if they issue it for proof of funds
