Can I get a 30-day extension on a 30-day visa exempt entry or 60-day tourist visa if I'm on amnesty in Thailand?

ATTENTION MEMBERS

It appears to be confirmed IF you entered on a 30 day visa exempt entry OR a 60 day tourist visa entry BUT went on amnesty you CANNOT get a 30 day extension now even if you never got the first 30 day extension you were "entitled" to apply for.

The second you went on amnesty you lost that ability :O

IF anyone has gone to their immigration office on a 30 day visa exempt entry OR a 60 day tourist visa entry that is on amnesty and got a 30 day extension please report it here

To all the people I argued with and said you could get the 30 day extension from either of those entries I sincerely and humbly apologize to each and every one of you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Members have confirmed that if you entered Thailand on a 30-day visa exempt entry or a 60-day tourist visa and subsequently went on amnesty, you cannot obtain a further 30-day extension. This restriction applies even if you have not previously utilized your initial 30-day extension option.

What if you panicked and paid an agency for 1 year marriage visa? How do you get out of this slippery slope? Can you go back to non O multi entries or will you be thrown in jail?

and I am going by the many MANY MANY messages I got from people all over the country today who said they were turned away from getting a 30 day extension AT THIS TIME. Take it for what it's worth. I'm only relating what I have been told, you either believe it or slog on out to the immigration office yourself and ask 'em.. :)

But that does not mean that "you CANNOT get a 30 day extension now even if you never got the first 30 day extension you were "entitled" to apply for.

The second you went on amnesty you lost that ability" which is what u wrote. And u claimed that it had been "confirmed".

Everyone is concerned about what applies. are you married and have family children. Then you have no problems and get your visa. are you tourist and have no connections with Thailand book ticket now before July 31.time for you to going home. Good luck 🙏🇹🇭🙏

the place is a ghost town right now because there is no announcement of what amnesty holders on 30 day visa exempt or tourist visa entries need to do right now BUT it is set up to really crank people thru with TONZ of spaced out chairs for social distancing etc. Something is gonna happen because if they were just gonna run you people on amnesty outta the country they wouldn't have re-opened that location.

if you indeed got a 30 day extension you'd be the ONLY person I know out of a couple hundred people the country over who got one. Most are being turned away and told "we can give it to you but come back closer to amnesty expiring" <- which means it will be after any announcement they will make

very happy for all of you genuinely. Just pointing out though at the end of a very long period of stay with no visa, you or those like yourself may be in a predicament re: no visa and that during these last 2 months + & next two months, people have ample time to plan / consider what situation they may be in at the end of September..

Those who don’t and at that time are pulling there hair out as to what to do, won’t win my sympathy..!

Good luck to all and enjoy your current stay in the kingdom..

You missed the point. Whether he’s wrong or right isn’t the main issue. It’s his loutish manner and general demeanor—part attack dog, part begrudging helper. There are many on these boards who already have a hard time living in Thailand with so many changes and contradictions and a poor way the government chooses to communicate its rules. What they don‘t need is some trumped up, self appointed jobsworth who thinks he can belittle and talk down to them. That’s what I meant by, “A little bit of humility goes a long way.”

I’m not going to get into a word war with you, and I don’t think I’ve missed the point at all. We are all individuals and have our own way of putting things across, which some may find demeaning , insulting and down right rude. You see Tod as a lout, part begrudging helper etc etc. While others find the information offered most helpful. I can assure you from comments on this and another site well known to us both, t the majority find Tod’s help and advice very welcoming. None of us know everything. All I was trying to establish was that when he realised he was wrong, he was man enough to stand up and apologies. This is something that a lot of proud, self opinionated people would not have the guts to do.
