Can I get a 30-day extension on a 30-day visa exempt entry or 60-day tourist visa if I'm on amnesty in Thailand?

It appears to be confirmed IF you entered on a 30 day visa exempt entry OR a 60 day tourist visa entry BUT went on amnesty you CANNOT get a 30 day extension now even if you never got the first 30 day extension you were "entitled" to apply for.

The second you went on amnesty you lost that ability :O

IF anyone has gone to their immigration office on a 30 day visa exempt entry OR a 60 day tourist visa entry that is on amnesty and got a 30 day extension please report it here

To all the people I argued with and said you could get the 30 day extension from either of those entries I sincerely and humbly apologize to each and every one of you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Members have confirmed that if you entered Thailand on a 30-day visa exempt entry or a 60-day tourist visa and subsequently went on amnesty, you cannot obtain a further 30-day extension. This restriction applies even if you have not previously utilized your initial 30-day extension option.

Now it is ready until 26 September we have amnesty thanks Thailand 🙏🇹🇭🙏

Attention it's looking like September now 😁

What if you panicked and paid an agency for 1 year marriage visa? How do you get out of this slippery slope? Can you go back to non O multi entries or will you be thrown in jail?

@James *******
are you married for two or not?

Not the Bangkok Post. The Bangkok Herald.

Apparently its not a real news site, so not a credible source for info. Created this May and absolutely no company or personal details stated on website...

and I am going by the many MANY MANY messages I got from people all over the country today who said they were turned away from getting a 30 day extension AT THIS TIME. Take it for what it's worth. I'm only relating what I have been told, you either believe it or slog on out to the immigration office yourself and ask 'em.. :)
Terry ********
@Tod ********
But that does not mean that "you CANNOT get a 30 day extension now even if you never got the first 30 day extension you were "entitled" to apply for.

The second you went on amnesty you lost that ability" which is what u wrote. And u claimed that it had been "confirmed".
Ben ******
Everyone is concerned about what applies. are you married and have family children. Then you have no problems and get your visa. are you tourist and have no connections with Thailand book ticket now before July 31.time for you to going home. Good luck 🙏🇹🇭🙏

Just back from inmigration muang thong thani , i am in a tourist visa 60 days and of course in the amnesty , they said to me “u can get a visa extension 30 days right now or any time u want BUT it will starting counting the same day u get it , so if u want after 31 july just came 30-31 july to get it ,....i then told them can be very busy that days , they just said we are ready for that , no problem....there is 1 floor only for EXTENSION TOURIST VISAS...
Dave ********
@Tod ********
, he wasn't told to come back closer to the amnesty expiry date, he was ADVISED to, which contradicts your original post on this thread and many others

one question! Does that apply for all types of visa ? I'm on amesty with transit visa and my country is still shut down
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
so again another person was told "you can get it BUT come back closer to when amnesty expires"

@Tod ********
ya and they were very confident about tourist visa can get 1 month extension ( if not used already) but not only 1 month!! also another month extension with embassy letter this second time (first no need)
Will ************
Unfortunately a lot of embassies are now refusing to issue any letters.

Thank you, Tod! I was a bit confused in an earlier thread about the same.

How about those who got laid off, and nonB visa was cancelled?

Same situation, my lawyer is ready to make new non B paperwork, I'm thinking have to apply for another new non B in Thailand before 31st July 🤷‍♀️

30 mins , but they did say that I should have registered online and next time that’s what I would have to do, there were 3 people there yesterday

the place is a ghost town right now because there is no announcement of what amnesty holders on 30 day visa exempt or tourist visa entries need to do right now BUT it is set up to really crank people thru with TONZ of spaced out chairs for social distancing etc. Something is gonna happen because if they were just gonna run you people on amnesty outta the country they wouldn't have re-opened that location.
Robert ********
@Tod ********
alright then, in that case I will save you repeating the reply you have written so many times. I will wait for the announcement with a slightly increased sense of optomism! Thank you!

@Mo *****
so you actually got a 13 day extension until 13 July? Cost?

if you indeed got a 30 day extension you'd be the ONLY person I know out of a couple hundred people the country over who got one. Most are being turned away and told "we can give it to you but come back closer to amnesty expiring" <- which means it will be after any announcement they will make

Obviously none of the districts are applying the same rules, and there is no redress, it does say case by case in small print

The problems are for people not married and supporting a Thai family, now the Egyptian military case has it the fan, and no wealthy tourists are coming in, tomorrow will be another change of direction.
Lyndon ************
Any 30-day extension would have expired by now. No choice but to go on the amnesty, if still here on tourist visa or exemption

IF anyone has a 30 day visa exempt entry OR a 60 day tourist visa entry and has gone on amnesty and then to the immigration office and got a 30 day extension issued (not be told they COULD give it to you but you should come back closer to the 31st) please post the extension stamp.

still at the end of this extra period of time, there will be people crying and winging about their situation..

Because a total of 4 months really isn’t sufficient time to get ones shit together..! ??
Todd *********
@Jef****
shit together lol? Have not considered those of us who prefer to stay. And will be at almost 7 months by end sept. No visa cost. No lineups at immigration. Pretty ideal setup so far. Sorry for the people that paid for visas 🤷‍♂️
Jeffrey *********
@Todd ********
very happy for all of you genuinely. Just pointing out though at the end of a very long period of stay with no visa, you or those like yourself may be in a predicament re: no visa and that during these last 2 months + & next two months, people have ample time to plan / consider what situation they may be in at the end of September..

Those who don’t and at that time are pulling there hair out as to what to do, won’t win my sympathy..!

Good luck to all and enjoy your current stay in the kingdom..
Todd *********
@Jef****
totally understand the perspective! What I’m betting is that there will be a new extension option. It would appear the previous thai visa system may be in for dramatic overhaul.
Jeffrey *********
@Todd ********
good luck with either of those things happening anytime soon, admire your optimism though.. 🙂

6 months so far... it’s not optimism. It’s just understanding the situation

It takes a man to apologise and admit he was wrong. Well done Tod.
Tom *******
You missed the point. Whether he’s wrong or right isn’t the main issue. It’s his loutish manner and general demeanor—part attack dog, part begrudging helper. There are many on these boards who already have a hard time living in Thailand with so many changes and contradictions and a poor way the government chooses to communicate its rules. What they don‘t need is some trumped up, self appointed jobsworth who thinks he can belittle and talk down to them. That’s what I meant by, “A little bit of humility goes a long way.”
Frederick *********
@Tom ******
I’m not going to get into a word war with you, and I don’t think I’ve missed the point at all. We are all individuals and have our own way of putting things across, which some may find demeaning , insulting and down right rude. You see Tod as a lout, part begrudging helper etc etc. While others find the information offered most helpful. I can assure you from comments on this and another site well known to us both, t the majority find Tod’s help and advice very welcoming. None of us know everything. All I was trying to establish was that when he realised he was wrong, he was man enough to stand up and apologies. This is something that a lot of proud, self opinionated people would not have the guts to do.
Tom *******
True but sadly not done often enough. A little bit of humility goes a long way.
Frederick *********
@Tom ******
maybe he’s not wrong that often.
