TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) will go live on April 28, allowing travelers arriving on May 1 to apply beforehand. The system will include an option to select Thailand as the country of residence. Users have raised questions about the definition of long-term residents and the necessity of filling out accommodation details for day trips. There are also concerns about what to do if someone forgets to complete the TDAC before arrival, with assurances that assistance will be available at designated help points in exceptional circumstances. Additionally, it is clarified that TDAC must be completed by all foreign passport holders, including those with non-immigrant visas.

If I've just received my non-immigrant type O visa and plan to arrive during May, do I still need this?
Ellie *******
@Shai *******
, read the shared post. yes you need to do it.

"Completion of the TDAC will be mandatory for all foreign passport holders, including tourists, business travellers, and long-term residents. Exceptions apply only to travellers transiting or transferring through Thailand without passing through immigration control and to those entering using a Border Pass."

@Ellie ******
I see. Thank you.
Fred **********
So I think if you do a visa run to Cambodia or Laos for example you have to fill out the TDAC again?
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Fred *********
you do it EVERY TIME you ENTER thailand starting on May 1st, SO if you're going to border bounce after May 1 you need to file a TDAC when you come back in
Pedro **********
Online System shows that you need to update the TDAC every 90 days should you remain here for a longer period... same same but different than the 90 notification you have to do as well.
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Pedro *********
where did you see this written exactly?

As far as I can see it's just an ARRIVAL card, you do it when you arrive
Pedro **********
My mistake, it did state (TDAC site) to notify if staying over 90 days but I think it was just referring to the standard 90 days notification.
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Pedro *********
right that was the standard "if you're on an entry/visa/extension that requires 90 day reporting you need to do it" sort of disclaimer

It's not related to the TDAC specifically, they just wanted to make sure people knew that the arrival system doesn't have anything to do with 90 day reporting
Kevin ***********
Have they fixed the Thai phone number?
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Kevin **********
when the system goes live on the 28th you will be able to select thailand as country of residence and that will default to the +66 country code of thailand

I am arriving in Thailand on 27th April. Just looked at the TDAC and looks like you can only do it 4 days in advance of travel.
Vin *********
@Ken *********
3 is what is stated. Where did you get 4 from?

It also says starting 1 May....
Ken **********
@Vin ********
yes it says 3 days but when you go onto the sites to try and do it in advance it only gives you 4 days in advance. And yes I read it is effective as of 1st May.
Colin *********
@Martin ********
it's not a paper form, so it's not possible to "not have it". From reading the news article the provided link points to (you're welcome to read it yourself), there will be "help points" at airports upon arrival, they're there for "exceptional circumstances only". Reading into that, I don't think forgetting is an 'exceptional circumstance' and, just my thoughts, one 'could' be refused entry. Like everything else with Thailand, it may well be up to the Immigration Officer you're in front of.
Martin *********
What happend if you dont have it or forget it? Can you do it in front of the Immigration Officer?
Ellie *******
@Martin ********
, did you read the post? It says “Travellers who are unable to complete the TDAC before arrival and do not have internet access at the point of entry will be assisted at designated help points located at immigration checkpoints. This assistance is intended for exceptional circumstances only.”
Martin *********
Ok, thanks for all answers. Sorry, my english is not perfect. I thought about some people have to much stress or some elder people, they have problems online all the time. Lets see what happend next month.

@Martin ********
it says that there will be people at the entry points to help and assist in case travelers didn't do the TDAC before they came. (y)

I think it will be a learning curve for BOTH travelers and immigrations 🙂

Good luck with it, safe travels (y)

@Martin ********
Maybe you won't be boarding your flight
Tod *********

@Martin ********
how would you "forget" it, it's April 5th, the system goes live on April 28th and everyone entering from May 1 has to do it.

I think the "I didn't know about it" excuse isn't gonna really cut much ice with them.

Thailand is doing a great job getting this info out BEFORE the program starts.
Ken **********
@Tod ********
absolutely agree....
Jim ********
@Martin ********
Unlikely. It'll hold up the queue. I'd say you'll be directed to a safe space with internet access where you can do it, without inconveniencing those who have done it
Jason *******
I really hope they create an app.. just for ease of use
Ashley ********
@Tod ********
is it mandatory to fill in accommodation ? What happens if i do day trips ?
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Ashley *******
did you go to the site and see if those fields were red asterisked (mandatory)
Ashley ********
@Tod ********
yea and it’s marked in red. So it’s mandatory. So do I lie then ?
Ken **********
@Ashley *******
why would you lie, just put in the info they want.
Graham ******
@Ashley *******
you put one booking in, the first night if possible
Tod *********

@Ashley *******
dunno how it will work, no one does, it starts the 28th, everyone will find out then
Sisca **********
Does it mean we dont need to do the TM whatever it is in 24hrs after every arrival anymore??
Sisca **********
@Colin ********
@Tod ********
🤦🏻‍♀️ thx guys…👍🏼
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Sisca *********
you still do the TM30
Colin *********
@Sisca *********
if you are referring to the TM30 that let's Thailand Immigration where you are living, yes, you still do that. This has nothing to do with the TDAC.
Bobby **********
I heard it mentioned in the video that there is a mobile app, but I'm not finding it in Google Play 🤷
Uwe *******
@Bobby *********
agree. heard that too and did not find it either. maybe not released yet?
Bobby **********
@Uwe ******
I would say "God only knows" but TIT and he probably doesn't know either 🤷
Goodd *******
Wonder what you put in for date of departure and flight number from Thailand if you’re long term resident.
Graham ******
@Goodd ******
leave them blank, they are optional fields
Goodd *******
@Bobby *********
Was sure it was starred yesterday. Anyhow that’s good. Thanks.
Bobby **********
@Goodd ******
Keep in mind though it doesn't mean that it's coded correctly and properly tested 😉
Ken **********
@Goodd ******
will it let you continue if you enter on a one way flight with not definite return date.
Goodd *******
@Ken *********
Yes because it’s not starred now so not mandatory field.
Ken **********
@Goodd ******
yeah mate, but will it let you continue once it has rolled out.....will be interesting as I always go in on a one way ticket.
Bobby **********
@Goodd ******
When I looked at it, those fields weren't indicated as being mandatory (not having the red *).
Bobby **********
Goodd *******
@Bobby *********
They do now
Bobby **********
@Goodd ******
Ummmm no they don't 😉
Ben ******
Interesting…i arrive on
****
at 11:50 pm. It will probably be
***
by the time i get to immigration. I guess i should do the TDAC, but do i need to wait until
****
when it goes live?
Ken **********
@Ben *****
I would if I was you, just to be on the safe side. I am going to even tho I am arriving 3 days earlier.
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Ben *****
the system doesn't go live until April 28th and it doesn't let you do a TDAC if you're traveling in more than 3 days from when you're filing
Ben ******
@Tod ********
wow it looks like i will be among the very first to test it out. Lucky me 😅
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Ben *****
(y) you can do it, report back on how it goes and how the entry procedure is if you would

safe travels
David *******
@Ben *****
you got this
Colin *********
@Ben *****
a link was provided to a video and explanation of the new card. Did you click and read? Your answer is there. You will need to complete the online form, for as you said you'll almost certainly get to passport control/immigration just after 12am on May 1. You can't complete the form before it goes live, so yes, on/after April 28. Don't forget it though. While the news article says that there will be "help points" at airports on arrival, for those who haven't completed the form, it's for "exceptional circumstances only", so if someone has just forgotten to do it they may be refused entry.
David *******
@Ben *****
oh wow you will be going through after midnight
Ben ******
@David ******
well i’ll just do the TDAC before I fly out on
****
to be safe, assuming I can do it online then.
Wolf ******
Thanks,

👍.. they fixed Thailand as resident country.
Bosco *******
Thank you
Rupert *********
Thanks for the clarification Tod. When the website first went live I saw that Thailand wasn't an option of country of residence and wondered what to do if you lived in Thailand. I was going to ask immigration when I did my 90 day report later this month.
Bobby *******
What do you think qualifies as a long term resident? Extensions of stay based on marriage and retirement?
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Bobby ******
I would say anyone on long term visa/extension, ED, Marriage, Retirement, Employment, Volunteer, DTV, LTR any of those would certainly work
