ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS:

6**0 day visa exempt stamp JUST STARTED at the airports now

It's for air or land entry **

**IT IS OFFICIAL

**(and in case you're wondering if that top stamp is a russian entry it is NOT, it's from a Chinese passport, that's why they have the ผ.60-ม.17 before they used to get ผ.30-ม.17 but now it's ผ.60-ม.17 and it's why I posted a "NEW" ผ.60 stamp that didn't exist until they started this 60 day stamp dealy)

TLDR : Answer Summary
Thailand has introduced a new 60-day visa exempt stamp for travelers, applicable to both air and land entries, which officially began on July 15, 2024. Prior to this, arrivals typically received a 30-day stamp. This new stamp allows for an extension of 30 days, totaling a possible stay of 90 days without leaving the country. Travelers from visa-exempt nations can now enter Thailand with this stamp but many are questioning if the extension is automatic and whether the rules will remain consistently applied. Discussion in the community reflects excitement over the changes, but also concerns regarding the implications for frequent travelers and potential scrutiny from immigration.

Im planning to visit tomorrow (less than 15 days) and my country is on the list, is it free entry or I still need to show up a form or any kind of documents?
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
if your country is on that list you get in free for 60 days
Rob ***********
@Tod ********
is it possible to enter on this and during that apply for the Yearly Non-O Marriage extension? Or do they require you to apply for the Non-O Marriage 90 day extension when outside of the country instead and then do the Yearly Extension? Thanks
Ellie *******
@Rob **********
, you can apply for in-country initial Non-O visa when you enter Thailand on 60-days visa-exempt entry, then apply for a 1-year extension for that same reason.

You cannot apply for a 1-year extension for any reason directly from 60-day visa-exempt entry stamp.

Just some news/info on airport passport control Immigration @ BKK International Airport as I returned yesterday afternoon on my EofS Based on Marriage back from a UK visit. Obviously that part is not anything to do with 60 day visa exempt stamp. But I would stay there are benefits for all visitors. They have rearranged/divided the areas up much better which seem to make sense and everybody’s life easier and quicker. 60 Day Visa Exempt Stamp has it own area department dealing with this and completely away from and out of view of all other areas. Which I went to with my EofS and reentry permit and this took all of 10 mins tops the fastest I’ve ever been through. So this seems to have made processing much swifter.

I was just about to go through the trouble of requesting a Simple entry Tourist Visa in France, so no need right ?

If I’d like to extend for 30 more days to stay 90 days in total, is it okay to book my return flight with a date at 90 days after entry ? Or do they ask you to show a flight ticket dated 60 days after entry when you arrive ?

Thanks
Ellie *******
@Coco *****
, it's more about your airline policy. Check with them which ticket they ask you on check-in. Thai immigration doesn't ask you for onward ticket often unless you have an extensive history to travel Thailand.

Can I use this visa exempt after this in the same year?
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Andy *******
your metv entries don't count toward the two free stamp entries you can get by land in a year.

AND

If you fly back I guess you'll find out stamping in if the officer thinks you've been here too much on tourist visa/free stamp entry..

You can try it, but I'd sure have proof of onward travel in 60 days if you're comin' off a long time here on an METV
Andy ********
@Tod ********
legend thank you. I will have had 1 re-entry by air and 1 re-entry by land by the end of my multiple entry tourist visa. If I can use one more land re-entry for the 60 day free stamp that’s perfect.

We are going to be in Thailand in November...stay 56 days, gone for 2 weeks, then back in Thailand for < 60 days. Will we be able to do Visa Exempt for both of those visits, or should we do a visa for the first one and then come back Visa Exempt? Where we are going for those 2 weeks do not have a Thai embassy, so if we have to have at least 1 real visa we would need to do it first. Thanks.

@Tom *******
you can do visa exempt entry on both entries

On the second Entry... I Suggest you have Booking info on where you will be staying during the first few days/week. And your ticket/ plans for departing Thailand at the end of the 60 or 90 days ..

easy spouting off about something you don't understand, 🙁

I'm telling it to you exactly how the immigration officer explained it to me and I don't care if you agree with it or not I'm telling you how it works

Russia is on the Visa on Arrival list, they are on the 30 day visa waiver list AND they were on the free 90 day entry stamp list while that promotion ran (now they get 60 days )

They have THREE ways they can enter thailand VOA, 30 day waiver, 60 day visa exempt (as of today)

Evidently some of the entry forms are negotiated between countries and changing them is a task so they just ADD another form of entry for that country
Iain *********
@Tod ********
how do Immigration officers decide which option to apply when a Chinese or Russian citizen arrives?
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Iain ********
they stamp them the longest I'm sure and Visa On Arrival is a special line for 15 countries so if they're NOT in that line they want the free stamp 😛
Iain *********
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Ian **************
You need to understand how it works 😕

It's REALLY hard to delete a form of entry for a country, but it's way easier to ADD another form of entry 😮

SO some countries are on the Visa ON Arrival list, AND the Visa Exempt list.

Believe it or not Chinese can really enter THREE ways, VOA for 15 days, ผ.30-ม17 the original 30 day promotion they were given AND now ผ.60-ม.17 for 60 days
Pete *******
How can it have started if nothing official has been published in the Thai Royal Gazette?

ORIGINAL POSTER
@Blagovest *********
as I explained further down where
@Paul ******
was spouting off on me about it 😮

It's hard to get countries forms of entry removed so what thailand does is ADD another form of entry ..

For instance Russia, can come in Visa On Arrival for 15 days for 2000baht, or they can decide to come in 30 day visa waiver (due to reciprocal agreement where thaiz get in to russia 30 days), they used to be on a 90 day free entry promotion that went to 60 days, BUT now they can enter 60 day visa exempt 😛
Blagovest **********
@Tod ********

That's the confusing part. They should have been removed from the visa on arrival list. So if they're visa exemption countries you can enter that way.

they will indeed but at some point you're gonna wear out free entry by air and they're gonna ask you wth you're doing and they'll tell you to get a real visa to be here or risk getting denied

Get the 6 month METV <- multi-entry tourist visa from the thai consulate in your country (Canberra or Sydney if you're in NSW) before you come here. That visa is valid for 6 months, is unlimited entry, gets you 60 days each time, and you're entering the country ON a valid visa so you aren't gonna get pulled aside like you eventually will comin' in visa exempt <- and believe me you WILL get pulled aside sooner or later and asked about it

BUT

this is a topic for another thread NOT this one, make your own post asking for visa options for your situation

So I actually went to the Immigration at NakhonnRatchasima and made enquiries to two lovely ladies about my Visa and my living arrangements being that I work overseas and return every 14 days to spend time with my wife and daughter.I asked her about applying for both an Non-O and a multi entry.She said Not Need to myself and my Thai wife that I am doing absolutely nothing wrong or breaking any Thai law by using the Visa exemption entry method.She went further to say until I aim to retire if that be in Thailand that there was no need for me to apply for a retirement Visa.She noted in my passport that I had recently been granted 3 extended stays concurrently to look after my daughter and mentioned to us just do this if stay longer.

So this 60 day covers that also .Cheers for the advice

visa exempt entry. Until Thai Immigration Officers tell you to get the correct Thai Visa for your entries and stays in Thailand
Paul *******
@Jason ******
Should be OK but if you're coming each and every month it might be a problem. Officials are happy if you do something like this:

Fly from Sydney to Bangkok, spend 3 days here then fly to China for one week and come back to Thailand for 5 days then back to Sydney.

2 months later do something similar.

Then no trips to Thailand for 6 months followed by 3 or 4 entries over the course of a month each for a maximum of a week. Then back home and no trips to Thailand for at least 3 months.

Coming every month on the other hand could eventually raise some red flags...
