ATTENTION AUSSIE MEMBERZ

The thai consulates in Sydney and Canberra went LIVE on the eVisa online application system today

Sadly there is no longer an option to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O from either consulate (the system defaults to single entry and you cannot select multi

Good news though, there has been NO price increase in the visa fees at this time

READ THE USER MANUAL to learn how to navigate the system

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai consulates in Sydney and Canberra have launched an eVisa online application system, which unfortunately does not allow for a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa; only single-entry visas are available. Despite the change, visa fees remain the same. For those looking for multi-entry options, only certain consulates like Savannakhet in Laos can issue a year-long, multi-entry Non-O based on marriage, with specific financial requirements.

Received a reply to my enquiry regarding same.

Greeting from The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney,

For non-immigrant O, multiple entry is no longer available. Please apply a single entry. Once you want to leave Thailand, you can apply for a re-entry permit and extend your visa with Thai immigration.

Regards,

Does that mean there are no

6 months multi visas where you can stay 60 days and get 30 day extension.. Then do border hop and come back In and do same again total 180 days approximately 6 months.

@Peter ********
there totally IS still a 6 month METV <multi-entry tourist visa, and you show a reason WHY you need that visa (usually proof you're leaving thailand in 60 days and comin' back a few days after that) or they can sell you just a single entry and keep the difference in fees.

You select tourist visa, tourism activities and multiple entry is a choice

...I'll have look over the weekend..cheers

@Peter ********

Sadly this thread is only to let people in Oz KNOW that you have to use eVisa system now

and

It's not about what you people do now that you can't get the year multi Non-O visa from Sydney anymore 🙁 That is a topic for another thread

As it is right now about the ONLY thai consulates around that issues a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage is the one in Savannakhet Lao

It requires you have 400K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the visa,
Mark *******
So the year mev based on marriage is gone
James ********
Mark *******
@Douglas *******
but is that visa available inside the country if so then you think the marriage visa would be available
Douglas ********
@Mark ******
yes available in country, and yep can get similar based on marriage, but this visa makes it easy to work here, so more hassle, paper work, etc.

The 0 retirement visa is straight forward, and can convert to 0 based on marriage visa when or if I truly retire. Lol

@Mark ******
that's why people get the retirement visa/extension because it's issued on the spot. (there's no under consideration stamp where you come back a month later)
Mark *******
@Tod ********
so when my marriage visa is nearing the end can I change it to retirement multi entry
Tod *********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Mark ******
nope you cannot 😕 You MIGHT <- as in may be able to, talk to your immigration office and see if they will let you apply for a year "extension of stay" based on retirement by having banked 800K baht in a thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension.

Extensions in thailand are not sold with any re-entry permit, you get the year extension stamped in THEN you buy a re-entry permit after that (single 1000baht, multiple 3800baht)

@Mark ******
the thing is MANY people who are on FIFO jobs or work rotation can't be IN COUNTRY the time it takes to apply for the 90 day Non-O wait that processing time, get the 90 day visa, burn down 2 months of it, apply for the year extension for 1900baht, get the 30 day under consideration stamp, and go back to the office when that runs out to get the year inked in.

Even getting a single entry 90 day Non-O based on marriage before you come, you still have to burn down 2 months of that visa stamp to apply for the year extension, AND then come back 30 days after you applied (when the 30 day under consideration stamp runs out) to get the year extension inked in 😕

@Mark ******
looks like it mate!
Mark *******
@Douglas *******
I thought that with the mev thanks pal

@Mark ******
you are correct, (y) you can get a single entry 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai (or retirement)
Mark *******
John **********
@Mark ******
So if I understand it correctly, you can still get a 90 day non immigrant O retirement single entry Visa on line.
