What are the latest updates and experiences regarding the 60-day visa extension in Thailand?

**Attention Members:

60 Day Extensions**

More and more immigration offices are handing out this form when people ask about the 60 day extensions which were announced some time back.

Also we have a post from Matthias who successfully applied for a 60 day extension at the immigration office in Hua Hin and is now good until Dec 30.

I am posting this form for people to print and take with them when they go ask their immigration office about the 60 day extension.

If anyone has gone to their immigration office and asked about the 60 day extensions please post your experience here.

Keep this thread ON TOPIC, it is only for 60 day extension questions and information sharing.

AND please enough with the asking "can I apply for it from xxx or yyy" visa/extension?" etc. GO to your immigration office with this paper and ask them in person or call.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The community is discussing the recent introduction of a 60-day visa extension in Thailand, with many sharing their experiences at various immigration offices. A member successfully obtained an extension in Hua Hin, prompting others to share their results from different locations including Chiang Mai, Sakon Nakhon, and Bangkok. It appears most extensions require standard documents, but there is variability across offices. Members advise taking the forms available at immigration and confirm that in many cases, embassy letters are no longer required. Several discussions around applying for extensions, required documentation, and personal experiences point to a dynamic situation as offices adjust to this new rule.

Hello, I closed the loop and I'm good until the end of Nov. I received my stamp in BKK, but I'm now in Samui. Can you apply for an extension in another city? Or does it have to be back at the same immigration you originally got your last stamp?

since you got the "loop closed" and are now on a completed extension you should be able to apply for a new extension at the immigration office in the area where you stay now..

My experience on Oct 30: Went to Bangkok Chaengwattana today, was told I should have had a U.S. embassy letter (but they announced they are not issuing them). In the end, filled out this form for 60 days and was given a 14 day under consideration stamp.

Has anyone who is not on Amnesty successfully applied for this extension yet?

Specifically if you came in on visa exemption, went on amnesty and then got a 60 day extension based on visiting Thai family?

I misunderstood your post. I thought you already HAD an under consideration stamp dated Nov 9th in your passport NOT that you applied for the 60 day extension and GOT the under consideration stamp today. You're totally correct, when you go back in 2 weeks you will get your 60 day extension dated from the 1st of Nov (so until Dec 30)

I did. Had an 8 - 12 appt but didn't get seen till 2:30pm

No matter where they seat you, especially outside, always move to the closest seat to the front that's empty... I learned the hard way and people that arrived after me left way before me. Eventually I just got up and made my way in myself, otherwise I might still be there now 🤷🏻‍♂️

So, In regards to the second tick box on this form, are we to assume that if you get a new embassy letter after whatever extension/visa we are currently on, that they will issue 60 more days for 1900 baht?

get the embassy letter and you can apply for a 60 day extension, can't get the embassy letter and you can apply for a 60 day extension. At this time getting the embassy letter is not as critical as it used to be

This is ONLY about the 60 day extensions, keep it on topic people or I'll close it down. It's not about closing the loop on an under consideration stamp, it's not about getting a stamp from Oct changed to Nov, it's about applying for a new 60 day extension without the embassy letter.

Not yet at Krabi. Showed them this exact form and explicitly showed the "no embassy letter" part. Genius behind the counter then said I would still need a letter from my embassy to say they cannot provide a letter.

I went to Samui office yesterday to cancel my work permit and apply for a medical extension. I was shown the above form and advised to fill it in instead of going through the lengthy medical process. They didn’t need to see my doctor cert or anything, it was just like applying for a regular extension. Samui doesn’t have the authority to issue the stamp, so I was given a number and advised to come back to get my passport in a weeks time. They confirmed that the extension will be until 31 December. Good luck, y’all x

so you left your passport there? As a rule most immigration offices issue 'under consideration' stamps and then you go back WITH your passport to get the final extension stamp you don't leave the passport with them for a week. :/

Now that 60-day extensions are official, does it now mean that people with embassy letters and came to close the loop for a Nov 30 extension, but instead, received a Dec 30 ext, are now legit? Because according to Benjamin (about 2 weeks back), is that there was no legal basis for the Dec 30 extension. Any light shed is appreciated.

no one could figure out why people were getting stamped in until Dec 30 back when a few offices started it. NOW it seems what they're doing to some people at least IS closing the loop on the under consideration stamp and giving you to dec 30 (or in essence giving you a 60 day extension dated from the day after this amnesty expires). OR giving you the "free time until Nov 30" (that is being given to people) and then a 30 day extension until Dec 30.. There's no way to tell how they're counting it

There are 70+ immigration offices in the country and it varies office by office

BUT

most extensions require a filled out TM7 w/passport sized photo, copies of the data page of your passport, your entry stamp, your visa, your most recent extension, the TM6 departure card and they might ask for more.

Check with your particular office.
