Please don't resurrect ancient posts :)

I have done the year extension based on marriage for 4 years now, about to begin 60 day seasoning for my next one here in chiang rai - is there a "standard" for how often you should update your bank book? the first few times I did it once per month and that sufficed. last year i updated it every 2 weeks and when i applied they made me go back to the bank and get a full statement for the past 2 months because they didn't believe i had it in the entire time.

updating frequently just takes up so much space in the bank book because i use the account all the time. just thought i would ask.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Bobby asks about the frequency of updating his bank book in relation to renewing his marriage visa in Chiang Rai. He mentions doing a year extension for 4 years and how updating his bank book less frequently led to issues during his visa application last year. The comments suggest that most immigration offices prefer a detailed transaction printout for the last 2 months, rather than frequent updates, and one user mentions that Bangkok Bank allows online requests for statements.

Bangkok bank allows you to request a statement online through the mobile app. It gets sent to your email in about an hour.

Safest is to get a one year statement!. At least Bangkok bank will skip transactions in the bankobook if you have many, then they can't prove you didn't go below...

It takes 5 days to get the one year statement, needs to be ordered from the headoffice.

jomtien didn't care and didn't require stamps. The printed statement from the mobile app was sufficient for obtaining the initial 90 day O visa as well as the one year extension. I provided photocopies of my bankbook as well. I did this for myself and my friend, and was successful four times (two initial O visas, two one year extensions)

Only the balance and monthly deposit letters from the bank had stamps on them.

good to know,

BUT

with over 80 immigration offices in the country (and Jomtien known for being a renegade office 😮 ) I'd recommend to

o that he either checks with his office FIRST to make sure they'll take downloaded printed user requested ones or if they want bank stamped ones.

Last thing he needs to do is show up to apply and THEN need to go get a set printed out 🙂

And as I said,

The bank can print 2 months detail transaction history on request and will often do it when you get the bank letter if you ask them for no additional charge

you can't use the online statements at the immigration office (at least Bangkok won't take them) because they need to be stamped with the bank stamp

you need to request them from your bank

okay that’s great. Thanks. I would think that immigration would want those stamped for verification though by the bank?

they DO want them stamped, just order it from your bank, they can print up to 6 months detail history (most banks) on the spot

Most immigration offices always request you get the detail transaction print out, (and for marriage you only need it for the previous 2 months)

That's because few people update their bank book regularly enough for the update to show EVERY transaction/balance

Just ask your bank for the detail transaction print out for the previous 2 months when you get the bank letter and/or update your bank book
