Massimo Minneci asked in another thread

So you guys are saying is possible to do an Evisa while we are here in Thailand ?

I have a flight out and in April to Melbourne but Melbourne no thai consulate,

so I was thinking to apply the non B on line now in order to have it already when I fly back.

Plausible?

TLDR : Answer Summary
Massimo Minneci inquires about the possibility of applying for a Non-B visa online while in Thailand, without access to a Thai consulate in Melbourne. The conversation reveals mixed advice regarding e-visa application processes, proof of travel requirements, and various visa types. Participants discuss issues surrounding the necessity of having proof of residency in the country from which a visa application is made, as well as alternative options for extending stay in Thailand or obtaining a new visa.

Did they close the Thai consulate in Melbourne? There certainly used to be one there.

I'm not quite understanding what it is he's doing now that I read thru it šŸ˜®
@ Massimo *******
i you live/work in thailand and need a non-B visa to work here with documents from your employer and are trying to find a place to get it OR what is it you're doing ?
Massimo *********
@Tod ********
correct. But I would normally do in kl! Or like I did 2 weeks ago in Manila! Problem is that now my trip is to Australia, and there is no enough time to do an extension. They need 3 months to apply ! So when I come back from Australia I can only use an evisa or enter with a tourist visa or donā€™t enter Thailand and take another flight to a neighboring country, tiring option

@John *********
you sure about this ?

@Massimo ********
yes, that is how a re-entry permit works. It keeps your existing stamp "alive" so you can leave and return, it just doesn't provide any additional time

@John *********
ok thanks
Massimo *********
@John *********
no! Canā€™t. Itā€™s a single entry. Can only be used one time
John **********
@Massimo ********
yes, you can use it one time and get stamped in for 90 days, if you leave you lose it. BUT if you buy a re-entry permit you can still leave and return as long as you return before the 90 days you were stamped in for runs out
John **********
@Massimo ********
so you are getting a new 90 day Non-B visa every time? Why don't you get a 12 month extension of stay at a Thai immigration office?
Massimo *********
@John *********
I wanted to try to get the non b multientry but failed so ya no choice but to get an extension, problem is timing now cause they need 3 months for that and I have trip to Australia mid April.
John **********
@Massimo ********
you can get a re-entry permit can you not?
Massimo *********
@John *********
no! My non b is single entry. Once out must get a new one
John **********
@Massimo ********
but can you not buy a re-entry permit from immigration before leaving? All that does is keep your current stamp alive

Tod, it seems he is coming for a short trip. Canā€™t he just come visa exempt as an Italian passport holder?

We wonā€™t ask if he is working or just seeing friendsā€¦

As
@Tullio ******
pointed out you can use the eVisa online website by saying you hold an italian passport and are in Australia

Now whether it will work or not who knows, but you're out nothing by trying and showing your flight from Melbourne to Bangkok as proof of travel

I tried doing the exact same for London whilst physically being in Thailand and the embassy was asking for proof of being in the UK currently.

@Steve *******
Same!

But the process is so potentially slow these daysā€¦ that it was well worth starting the process whilst in Thailandā€¦. Then they messaged me asking for further proofs. And i waited til the day i landed in the uk to send it to themā€¦

Worked like a charm.

actually totally depends on the consulate and the visa type AND if you uploaded the correct documents, some people get their tourist visas approved in a day or two,

The thai consulates in Canada (Ottawa) and France (Paris) totally suck as far as processing time for ANY eVisa šŸ™

And some of the consulates have that warning that you have to be IN the country you're applying at or they can deny it (although in your case you were in the UK šŸ™‚ )
James ********
@Steve *******
Yep šŸ‘ must show PROOF of your flight to Thailand from the UK...your home country to using the Evisa online application system.
Massimo *********
No time! Itā€™s a 5 days business trip
Marek ***********
Where do you have exit stamp? Cannot
Tullio *******
The evisa site give you the option to check that possibility for example if you are italian and you are in Australia you can apply online. Its not always the case though. If you are already in Thailand there isnā€™t the option to check, I believe as you are already here why would you apply for a visaā€¦
Brandon ************
I think the answer is no regardless since Australia doesn't use evisa yet
